I've Found a Fix For the Dark Camera issue on My Probook running Mountain lion.
It will probably work with others who have the same problem too.
It looks like the Auto Exposure is not working correctly and the cam is set to lowest Exposure (highest frame rate) by default.
I've Used Netkas's Camera control App to override the exposure a little bit, and it works great .
Down Side Is you'll need to open the Camera control app once every time you start the OS , before you open Photobooth/facetime etc...
then you can close it's window leaving it open in the dock.
it's a very small app so leaving it running through your camera session is not a big deal.
One thing to Take into consideration is the more you increase the exposure time the less frame rate you'll get and the camera will start to be very laggy , so it's a compromisation between Darkness and lagginess ...
