I've Found a Fix For the Dark Camera issue on My Probook running Mountain lion.
It will probably work with others who have the same problem too.

It looks like the Auto Exposure is not working correctly and the cam is set to lowest Exposure (highest frame rate) by default.

I've Used Netkas's Camera control App to override the exposure a little bit, and it works great .

Down Side Is you'll need to open the Camera control app once every time you start the OS , before you open Photobooth/facetime etc...
then you can close it's window leaving it open in the dock.
it's a very small app so leaving it running through your camera session is not a big deal.

One thing to Take into consideration is the more you increase the exposure time the less frame rate you'll get and the camera will start to be very laggy , so it's a compromisation between Darkness and lagginess ...

here is the link to the App :

maybe someone could use the same technique used by camera control app to edit the kext responsible for the camera to force it start with a slightly higher exposure ,i guess since the source code of the program is available at netkas site it would be much of a help ....

Any other way to get the camera working like it does with Windows? Only thing I can think of that drives me crazy.

There is a firmware solution for this problem.

- Fixes an issue where backlighting causes the webcam image to appear darker than expected.
I've successfully flashed the latest version FW (rev. 99.99).
Only downside is that the flasher utility requires windows.

ATTENTION!
DO NOT flash the aforementioned FW update package unless you are 100% sure your Probook has a compatible webcam module. Read the RELEASE NOTES carefully.
Crossflashing the wrong FW will result in a DEAD webcam module.
True story, read comments below.

Well....i try this and lost my camera.....

Could you be more specific about your loss ?
Is the camera detectable in Windows Device Manager or in BIOS settings ?

listed in device manager. but after firmware upgrade change from hd fixed to sonix....not work in windows and ML.
