Nice list. But AFAIK only Atheros 9285 and maybe the Broadcom cards will run on OSX, right? Broadcom BCM43224 is dual band, 300 Mbps adaptor, which makes it perfect upgrade for the Atheros card. And most of the Broadcom cards can be rebranded easy to match specific Vendor/Product ID. Do you know can we use it?

Last time when I was looking only BCM4313/BCM2070 card was being offered as WiFi/Bluetooth combo P/N 600370-001 No drivers at this point.

BCM43224 on the hand is WiFi upgrade only.
I'm not sure what works for Broadcom because Apple is not good in supporting half-size low power cards.

Yes, BCM43224 is WiFi only, but in eBay can be found plenty of these, with SPS 518434/518186/582564-001/002. If we can use them (if their IDs are in the list), maybe we can make them work somehow, after all, Broadcom's driver is one for all their cards, no matter what form factor they are (AFAIK, valid for Windows and Linux drivers, not sure for OSX). It's worth to try.

Need to figure out how to edit the bios and get rid of the whitelist once and for all.

The guys here are still trying, but with no success so far. It seems that the BIOSes of the new ProBook and EliteBook laptops are difficult to modify.

That's right. For the past year I've seen several attempts on couple different forums to remove whitelist but none of them succeeded. It's even worse with F.20 and above.

Guys, look what I've found today:

infoplist.png

This is info.plist from the AirPortBrcm4331.kext plugin. Looks very promising :) It seem that the BCM943224's ID (aka Dell Wireless 1520) is already supported by OSX, as well as BCM94322 (pci14e4,432b or Dell Wireless 1510) and in theory rebranded BCM943224 adaptor (ex. rebranded Dell Wireless 1520 with the HP's Subvendor/Subproduct IDs from the whitelist) should be recognized as native AirPort, right? Or I'm missing something?
