Fresh Yosemite install crashes everytime I try to copy files over a NAS drive. OS freezes. I had to hard reset the PC. Does anyone have same problem? I have GA-Z77-DS3H mob, i7-3770k processor. Didn't happen this on mavericks though..

I found that this started on 10.9.4. It wasn't solved with Yosemite, but the work around I have is to connect to smb drives with cifs protocol. It forces it to use smb v1 which won't crash.

@fidesachates,

I have a system using same mobo as you GA-Z87N-WiFi, and had this problem with some older kext drivers. try using latest Multibeast and install following :-

Before you install make sure you remove any old Intel or Atheros kexts from /S/L/E and also in the 'plugin' folder of IONetworkingFamily :-

NOTE: Latest multibeast sometimes has trouble displaying the Atheros selection, if its not there quit MB and run again and go straight to networking without selecting anything else ..

Cheers
Jay

Hi Jay,

I haven't run MB since moving over to clover. I used the ALXEthernet kext from the downloads section of tonymac which seems to be 1.0.2 as well and placed it inside /EFI/CLOVER/kext/10.10 which I assume is the same thing in that the kext is loaded (based on that my internet works). I didn't install the intel one at all since I don't use the second Ethernet cable.

Let me know if you think your suggestions would produce a different result despite what I've written above. Thanks.

@fidesachates,

Not sure if it makes a difference but you could try installing the kext to /S/L/E via MB and remove the kexts from clover - I don't load any kexts from Clover when booting from a SSD/HDD startup disk .. that features real purpose is to allow injection of critical kext's when using clover to boot a OSX USB installer ...

Cheers

I am not using clover, and I have only one ethernet... So, I already installed First one using MB, do I still need to select the intel one?

Also is that something Apple needs to fix? or problem with all Hackintosh?

[UPDATE] figured out why I thought MB didn't work. Per change log: - Updated all Drivers -> Network kexts description to display the correct install location /System/Library/Extensions/

Ok so that went extremely badly. Things that happened tonight:

1. Upgrade Nvidia driver
2. Reboot
3. remove ALX kext from EFI partition
4. Use MB to install ALX kext
5. Reboot <- reboot fails with circle with white stripe through it. -v showed something about memory allocation. Found thread on here that suggested uninstalling nvidia drivers
6. Reboot with USB drive <- works.
7. Discovered MB didn't work. ALX kext didn't install to /S/L/E/IONetworkingFamily.kext/
8. Ran MB again. Still doesn't work. At this point I really don't care. Just want to proceed with fixing the boot issue.
9. Uninstalled Nvidia.
10. Reboot <- now boots past apple logo and looks normal until the login screen. The mouse shows but no login screen.
11. Give up and refresh from saved image.

Lesson of the night

1. Don't play around with your system on a work night
2. Don't fix it if it ain't broke.
3. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have a backed up image. Again, I highly suggest my solution of having a backup clonezilla partition and a partition to save images on a single disk.

Apologies for deviating from topic.

Ok I installed with MB and removed from Clover. It didn't fix the issue. However, with Yosemite and Clover, I was able to see the stack trace that comes up after the system auto reboots. It seems wildly similar to another problem I noticed last night that I posted here. Do you think I should send it to the author of ALXEthernet?

I can't find reports on Google for Apple users. Also given the stack trace I think it's a hack problem. Does my workaround work for you?
