Gigabyte is working on UEFI-Bios for Z68(and P67)-Mainboards like:

Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD4-B3
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD5-B3
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD7-B3

GA-Z68XP-UD4 : UEFI

But no 3D-Bios :
Because Bios-Chip of the Z68(P67)-Mainboards is to small(half size of Z77).
Z77X....................BIOS 2 x 64 Mbit flash (full 2D + 3D BIOS)
P67A & Z68X.........BIOS 2 x 32 Mbit flash (2D BIOS)

I don't know, if the 3D is important for >>> DSDT-Free <<<, but probably not.

Now the UEFI Firmware is availabel as FINAL on the Mainboard-Websites.
I'm waiting for the update for Z68MX-UD2H-B3, it's one of the few that remain to appear.

Have you upgraded your board yet? Any success getting Lion to run after the upgrade? I suppose the DSDT in the BIOS will change, hopefully to the better...

I updated my Z68X-UD3H-B3 rev 1.3 to the UEFI BIOS and it works with my Lion 10.7.4 with the Ivy Bridge kernel (I have the i7 3770K CPU).
Power management works native (I didn't try sleep/wake, but no KP at boot without using DSDT or NullCPUP..).

U1h(UEFI BIOS) - Z68X-UD3H-B3

I am in the process of setting up a second build, when I stumbled on this new FW update published June 21st 2012:

U1h(UEFI BIOS)
UEFI BIOS
(When updating from legacy to UEFI, use only the utility attached to your BIOS file)

F12 version is dated March 21, 2012 is what I am currently running, now seems to be referred to as Legacy.

OK, I am addicted and am in the process of setting up a third build, this time with Z68A-D3H-B3, this also now lists a new UEFI BIOS.

Can Tonymac or Macman or any other authority please explain what these are ? When can support be expected ?

My suggestion is ignore them until there are more details. Your system should work without them. Personally I don't care about them as I am not using an Ivy Bridge CPU. These UEFI BIOSes are created partly to deal with the problem of Ivy Bridge overclocking on Gigabyte P67 and Z68 motherboards. These are beta (test) versions anyway and even if you want them you should wait until Gigabyte releases the release versions.

However, there are some advantages of using UEFI BIOSes such as not needing a DSDT for power management functions, as evidenced by the Z77 motherboards from Gigabyte. I think we can expect the same from the P67/Z68 motherboards once these BIOSes are released.

U1h for Z68X-UD3H-B3 is a release version, not a beta. U1e was a beta version for that board.

Thanks JamesBond,

My three builds work fine with latest Legacy BIOS'es, and since all are Sandy Bridge 1 x 2500K (OC'ed to 4.2GHz) and the other 2 are G620, I do not need these new UEFI growing pains.

Oh? In my experience, Gigabyte BIOS names with lower case letters are beta (at least that was the case) and so U1h should be beta rather than release. Are you sure?
