GTX 660 Ti: Supported or not! (OpenGL error when on wake from sleep)

Updates in the third post http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/...-opengl-error-when-wake-sleep.html#post465418

Okay, this card mentioned as supported graphics card in the CustoMac 2012 post, and according to recent post by tonymac, 10.8.2 has full support for it in addition to some other nvidia cards, and there are some lucky users have it without problems, BUT it looks like the majority of us have problems with this card, to be exact 1) FCPX issues, 2) Wake from sleep issues.

I'm not software developer to be able to develop or patch a kext to get it to work, I even don't know what the error that I get in console when I try to wake my system from sleep ...

Code:
NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0x1f = Fifo: MMU Error

So, I need some help from tonymac, MacMan or any professional to know what's happen. Is it something wrong I do (actually, we do, as I'm not the only one with these issues)? or There is possible fix in the near futur? I need to decide whither I should keep this card an wait for a solution, or just try to resell it with lose! (I have no option to return the card and get something else, this is not available in my country unfortunately).

This card gave me a lot of frustration, my old HD 5770 was rock solid in terms of stability, although it was need GE=Yes i.e not 100% natively supported as the 660 Ti is.

FYI:

I'm using GE=No with my 660 Ti
- Tried it with running 10.8.1, just changed GE form Yes to No and installed OpenCL patch from MB 5.0.2.
- Tried it with fresh 10.8.2 (10.8 then updated with 10.8.2 combo) + OpenCL patch from MB 5.0.2.
- Tried it with fresh 10.8.2 (10.8 then updated with 10.8.2 combo) + the new Nvidia drivers fro 10.8.2. (tonymac mentioned that it doesn't need patched kexts anymore in 10.8.2 to enable OpenCL)
- Tried it with fresh 10.8.1 (10.8 then updated with 10.8.1) + OpenCL patch from MB 5.0.2.

With ALL these combinations I have the same issue, monitor doesn't get signal after wake from sleep, the system wakes but the monitor is black! And I found the error above in the console after a manual reboot, some times single error, other time multiple errors (but the same), for example ...

Code:
NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0x1f = Fifo: MMU Error
NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0x1f = Fifo: MMU Error
NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0x1f = Fifo: MMU Error
NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0x1f = Fifo: MMU Error
NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0x1f = Fifo: MMU Error
NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0x1f = Fifo: MMU Error
NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0x1f = Fifo: MMU Error

and here is my org.chameleon.Boot.plist setting..

Code:
<key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>GenerateCStates</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>GeneratePStates</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>No</string>
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1920x1080x32</string>
<key>Kernel</key>
<string>mach_kernel</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>darkwake=0</string>
<key>Legacy Logo</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>Timeout</key>
<string>2</string>
<key>UseKernelCache</key>
<string>Yes</string>

If I got a good deal on the 660 Ti I will sell it immediately, in the other hand I will never sell the 5770 even if I got double-price deal!
What do you think guys? please advice, a possible near solution, or re-selling the card and lose $$ :( then add more $$ to get 670 for example!

P.S I really appreciate your hard work, there wouldn't be a Hackintosh without YOU.

OK, for anyone who cares, I did a fresh install of 10.8 updated to 10.8.2 installed the latest supplemental update for 10.8.2 and installed the latest Nvidia drivers for 10.8.2, then started investigations. Did multiple sleeps, wakes, restarts and console checks, the result is .. there is no more NVDA errors in the console, actually there no errors in general BUT I'm still getting random fails to wake monitors from sleep, the system do but the monitors don't, so a manual restart is the only solution, looks like it hangs in some point. Every time I restart after a wake fail, I save a copy from the console before the restart starting from system boot until the point where it hang/fail to wake. Some times the console doesn't record sleep or wake events, although the system did sleep and fail to wake!

I now have increased thoughts that it's not a 660 Ti problem, but the 660 Ti was a reason to raise the problem on the surface!

Now I have 11 console copies, but actually I cant understand everything in it, and can't decide what may cause this problem. It will be greatly appreciated if someone skilled with this thing can take a look at them and tell me (us) what's happening. My thought it's DSDT-related issue, maybe a DSDT edit solves it (I use the one for my mobo and bios version from the database), maybe an upgrade to a DSDT-free system (getting Z77 mobo and ivy bridge CPU) solves it, but need someone skilled to take a look, is this possible :)

Hi, i have the exact same problem with the GTX 660 TI, but on a different system. GA z77x up5 th and i7 Ivy Bridge.

Everything is working perfectly on this system (even FCPX) , except waking from sleep sometimes fail (system starts, but monitor not). I don't use sleep / wake till i see a solution. Maybe it is a BIOS issue of the Graphics Card, but the most recent bios is installed.

Any news / solution on this?
Thanks a lit!

Freeze on wake problems with other cards have been fixed by setting AGPM to keep them out of state 3. However, I'm having the same problem with a new 660 Ti and this fix doesn't work for it.

Hi, I solved the problem by switching to GTX 670 - unfortunately. The GTX 670 is great (Gigabyte).

Same here. As I'm no hardcore gamer anymore I exchanged my ASUS 660 Ti with a Zortac GT640 passive cooled card. Since then no problems what so ever.

Cheers
Maroder

So will a regular GTX 660 (without the TI) work fine with sleep?
Since someone said the GTX 670 worked fine ...
I know the GTX 660 TI has better specs, but i don't need that.

Thanks for any hint!

Same sleep-wake-up-problem here with GTX 670 Ti

ivy Bridge i7 and Gigabyte Z86MX-UD2H-B3
