Nvidia has updated its 3rd party graphics drivers for GeForce and Quadro cards. The release notes are somewhat vague, but we can assume that they are designed, tested and tweaked for 10.8.2. Installation and removal instructions for the drivers are provided in the Additional Information section at the link below. Please note that these drivers should be considered experimental. If you aren't having any issues, do not install- the native OS X drivers work great for most people. If you do end up testing, report your findings in the comments!
Because I have software that won't run unless the GraphicsEnabler is set to yes. Also, I am currently using 5870 with the GraphicsEnabler set to yes. So I really don't want to take a step backwards if I upgrade my GPU.
I tested the performance vs. the stock 10.8.2 drivers. I updated to the new Nvidia driver mentioned in this post and installed the latest CUDA driver. Here are the results of the CineBench test with my system that has a GeForce GTX 470 and Intel i7 2600k OC 4.4GHz: On stock OSX driver I scored 51.42fps and CPU 8.59. On new Nvidia driver I scored 51.72fps and CPU 8.57. In summary, there is no worthwhile improvement. I did not test the issue with FCP X because I despise that program. I use Adobe CS6 because I'm a professional.
