I picked up the EVGA GeForce GTX 660 today, and got to testing. This is a brand new model, just released by Nvidia, and the card does not work as well as the other Kepler cards. In order to work, you must install the separate NVIDIA drivers from their site. I wasn't able to get to the desktop without the NVIDIA drivers and as with other Kepler cards, you must use GraphicsEnabler=No.

But the good news is, that OpenCL works without any patches! And the performance for the price is really good!

Hi,

I just bought a GTX 660 (the Zotac model to be precise) today because my old 8800 GTS (G92) decided to die on me without prior warning.
My 10.8.1 system didn't have these nVidia drivers installed so naturally I'm now unable to boot into it, except for single user mode.

I was wondering if anyone has an idea of how I could revive my system?
I already tried to install the nVidia drivers in single user mode with no success (unpacked the .dmg down to the .pkg and ran in with "installer", but it says it can't find the target volume, even though it is mounted at the path I point it to).
I also unpacked the .kext files and .bundle files from the .pkg and placed them in /S/L/E but loading the kext fails (both when trying manually and during boot) with "Failed to load executable for kext" (error 0xdc008016).

Since I can't use my old gfx card to boot into the system I'm out of ideas for the moment.

I got the EVGA GTX 660Ti super clocker and my frame rate is no where near 40 fps I get at best 29.45. And OSX 10.8.2 will not allow you to use the Drivers from Nvidia website. What all do I need to check in the Graphics category in Multibeast?

can someone with this card working try final cut pro x please?

as there are some issues with 660 Ti in final cut pro x (interface hang ups while working), it would be really nice to know if this card behaves as 660 ti or if it works without problems like 670 or 680.

this card would be very good for editing station, pricewise and performance wise. including cuda support for Adobe...

here is a link to fcp trial: http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/trial/

I just bought all the components to build a new computer, including this card. These are the specs:

Gigabyte GA-Z77MX-D3H
i5-2500K 3.3GHz
8gb DDR3 1600
EVGA GTX-660 2GB
1TB Seagate Sata 6gb
500gb Seagate Sata 6gb
ASUS DVD Burner
Rosewell 750w RX750-S-B

I saw another thread where someone couldn't get the GTX 660 to work. I'm glad to see you got it to work. This is actually my first hackintosh and I'm entirely new to all of this. I run mac at my work and got unibeast to load up my usb drive there with Mountain Lion. When I boot it up, I get the option to boot into the USB and make sure I input GraphicsEnabler=No. It begins to load into mac and then I get the screen that I have posted below. I tried using my onboard video as well, also with GraphicsEnabler=No, and I get the same error. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance!

I also went in during -v and this is what I got:

I can confirm that my Gigabyte Geforce GTX 600 (non-TI) works as well. I'll walk through how I got it to work...

Before I installed the card (since tonymac said that it would not boot without the drivers installed) I attempted to install the NVIDIA drivers, but the installer said I had an unsupported system (mine was set as the mac mini system definition)

Then, I switched to macpro 3,1 using multibeast, set GraphicsEnabler=No, and installed the NVIDIA drivers then restarted the system.

After that, I installed the card, connected w/ HDMI, rebooted, and everything worked first try including HDMI audio.

I got it to work, but it's a no go on 10.8.2. What setting should I have for 10.8.2? I can't run the Nvidia drivers on 10.8.2 cause it says it's already installed. Any advice for this?

Hey does sleep work for you? Any minor annoyances?

So is it worth ponying up the extra money to get the GTX 660 over the GTX 650 for OS X ?
French prices for the cards :
Gigabyte GTX 650 2GB = €138
Gigabyte GTX 660 2GB = €225

I'm on the fence on dedicated video cards and I've been twiddling around with Intel HD 4000 for the time being until I found one that worked well in OS X and was good in terms of a price/perfomance ratio.

And I assume I would need to ditch my iMac12,2 definition in order to make these guys work right ?

Got the gtx 660 running very easily, however I am on 10.8.1. However now whenever the computer sleeps and I wake it up from sleep, there is no display even though the graphics card appears to be running. Anyone else have thi problem? I'm fairly sure its something to do with my motherboard (ga-z77-ds3h) but I thought I'd ask anyways.
