I'm trying to figure this out. I've done my fair share of searching, and now I have to ask someone.

I upgraded using Tonymacs guide.

Isn't the GTX 580 supposed to be natively supported? In my case, i'm getting an error message (using verbose mode) and it doesn't allow me to proceed.

"kxld[com.apple.nvidia.nvgf100hal]: The following symbols are unresolved
kxld[com.apple.nvidia.nvgf100hal]: ___ZN11IOPCIDEVICE9metaClassE
can't load kext com.apple.nvidia.nvgf100hal - link failed
Failed to load executable for kext com.apple.nvidia.nvgf100hal
kext com.apple.nvidia.nvgf100hal failed to load (0xdc008016)"

and then it stops on

"[AGPM Controller] unknownPlatform"

I can only get past this by going into safemode (-x)

Under Lion I had previously used someone elses GTX 580 drivers with the device ID's prepatched in and had no problems. Shouldn't I not have to do that with Mountain Lion?

Thanks

I have that exact video card working in 10.8. Make sure when you install Multibeast, but use GraphicsEnabler=Yes, don't install the Nividia GTX 470/480/570/580 support as I found that caused my problems, with my install in OS 10.7.

For me the GTX 580 works flawlessly in 10.8 with Open GL/CL and multiple monitor support. Works better than in 10.7x as it had sleep issues.

The only issue I am having is OSX System Report report and multiple video cards. My System Report says my GTX 580 has only 1 MB when installed together with my GTX 285 (that reports 1024 MB). It reports normally with only one card installed. I have not found a solution.

Can you please do me a favor and attach your kexts for the following files?

AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext
Geforce.kext
GeForceGA.plugin
GeForceGLDriver.bundle
GeForceVADriver.bundle
NVDAGF100Hal.kext
NVDAGK100Hal.kext
NVDANV50Hal.kext
NVDAResman.kext

I did choose that option in Multibeast that you said that I shouldn't have. Does you by any chance know exactly which kexts that option modifies?

Here are the Kexts, not sure what files are modified with that option.

Gotta run, will upload GLdriver later

Added the missing kext..

Thanks for these, I await the GL Driver. These seem to have eliminated my Nvidia driver error, yet I'm now stuck on "TUFS"

The only thing I have found on TUFS is that you need to remove the graphics drivers in order to get booted again:

GL driver is uploaded
