NVIDIA has released their alternate graphics drivers for OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. These are separate from the drivers Apple ships as standard, and should be considered experimental. These drivers have been known to solve OpenCL issues with certain applications, as well as providing better native GPU power management for certain devices.

NOTE: These drivers are currently the only method to get full acceleration for NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750, 750Ti, 960, 970, and 980 'Maxwell' graphics cards. There are no current Macs with these cards, so support is absent natively in OS X.

If you've installed the drivers before, you may get a notification to update to the new drivers from the built in System Preferences pane.

How to Install the Web Drivers:
In order to flag the alternate drivers on a CustoMac using Chameleon/Chimera, you must install the driver package and also add the flag manually to the chameleon.org.Boot.plist. If you use Clover, you can toggle back and forth using the standard menubar or system preference pane.

1. Open Finder
2. Navigate to /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist
3. Open in TextEdit
4. Add nvda_drv=1 to Kernel Flags as shown:

Example Usage:

Code:
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>nvda_drv=1</string>

5. Save and reboot

You should be on the new NVIDIA drivers. :)

im on 10.10.1 with gtx 980 can't update to the new drivers unless im on 10.10.2 but i read users can't boot on 10.10.2 if the new web drivers aren't installed.

Can i install the Nvidia web drivers packages using Pacifist then apply 10.10.2 update, once both are installed, reboot and all will be fine ?

TIA

keep up the good work Tony!

I built my first Hack last night. Unfortunately, bad timing.

Regarding the Clover install, what do you mean by "standard menubar or system preference pane"? Is this within OS X, NVidia control panel, or Clover? I'm new to this.

Boot with "nv_disable=1" option, after 10.10.2 update should solve the problem I guess.

Will try my method with my GTX 970 once I'll have time to piddle around with updates :)

Just installed with clover. My system preferences look like this:
