Hi all,

Great news, yesterday I got my new Dell monitor - P2415Q with 4k resolution, with the ability SST 60Hz.

Motherboard: GIGABYTE Z97X-UD3H

Graphic card: Gigabyte GTX760 4GB

SSD: SAMSUNG 840EVO 120G

Mem: Kingston Savage DDR3 2400 HX324C11SR/8 * 2

CPU: Intel 4790K

My build is using clover which followed the guide from http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-desktop-guides/144426-how-install-os-x-yosemite-using-clover.html

Since nobody responded my previous thread - http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/149597-dell-p2415q-p2715q-4k-60hz-sst.html, I decided to trust my own knowledge. So I ordered this monitor from dell.com. I must say this monitor is really sharp! I love this Retina resolution so much!

What surprised me is that, I didn't do any configuration! My mac recognised my GTX 760 automatically and also this 4K monitor. It sets the resolution to 1920*1080 retina resolution with 60Hz (there is not any configuration on the monitor menu either). Everything went perfect!

Here comes some pictures:

I set the resolution to another one with suits my eye better.

However, one thing I can not figure out is that, my clover setting is:

<key>Graphics</key>
<dict>
<key>Inject</key>
<dict>
<key>ATI</key>
<true/>
<key>Intel</key>
<true/>
<key>NVidia</key>
<false/>
</dict>
</dict>

That nvidia is set to false, then why Yosemite still can recognise it? I did't know why, so I set it to:

<key>Graphics</key>
<dict>
<key>Inject</key>
<dict>
<key>ATI</key>
<false/>
<key>Intel</key>
<true/>
<key>NVidia</key>
<true/>
</dict>
</dict>

Opps! My mac can be started normally, however, the 4k display is black! I tried to turn on/off/on the monitor but didn't work. I do not know why, so I set the clover configuration back and everything works fine.

Anybody knows? Anyway, the current version works quite well I can still use it.

PS. With Parallels Desktop, my Bootcamp Windows started too, with high-resolution enabled. Finally, these 2 operating systems are working together with high-res. Also, my Bootcamp Windows 8.1 can be booted solely under Clover configuration. I wrote a topic about this, but it is in Chinese, if anyone interests, I can translate it into English and post it here: http://vincentli.tuchong.com/t/6997492/

There is another website's forum that has a long thread about this monitor and the black screen appears to be universal. The fix appears to require Apple to issue an EFI update to resolve. Not sure if EFI affects a hackintosh.

Were you ever able to get your monitor working in 4k with the i7's integrated HD4600 gpu? I get 2560x1440 max over a display port cable through the thunderbolt connector on my Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5 TH motherboard. The cable supports 4k when I tested with my MacBook Pro I got from work last May. I have ordered a video card that will arrive in a week or so.

Hi, thanks for your asking. Yes, I can start Yosemite 10.10.1 under HDMI 4K @30hz with HD4600 Everything works quite well except:It seems 2 or more monitors are not supported. I didn't investigate more since 30hzcan not satisfy me. I need a graphics card anyway.My motherboard do not support DP line.Hope it helps ^_^

great work! I'm curious if there are any half-height (low-profile) passively cooled GPU's capable of 4k@60Hz. I'd like to build a small, low-power, quiet hackintosh that can do 4k@60Hz. That's pretty much my only requirement.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, the key is my gigabye 760 which works perfect. However, GTX970 seems cheaper at Christmas day, I will replace my 760 soon.I will post any news on my new graphics card with this monitor once it arrive

Thanks. It looks like the EVGA 750 Ti can do 4k @ 60 Hz on a PC, and this card is at least cheaper and uses less power than the 760 GTX. I'd love to find out if this card would work on a hackintosh.

Even the lower powered vanilla 750 (non-Ti) worked like a charm. Happy to report the EVGA GTX 750 works fine with 4k @ 60 Hz.

Sine I am interested in buying the P2715Q I am also wondering about current compatibility.

Are we able to run these monitors out of the box? 4K at 60hz, no black screens, manual on/off switching or required tweaks?
I am running chameleon bootloader and without nvidia drivers.

Thanks in advance
