hi all,

just updated to 10.9 and now my GTX 760 is recognised however running under load all the time and about 20c hotter than on ML.

What can I do to fix this?
Everything else is running perfectly.

system:

Z87-HD3
4670k
nvidia 760

Ben

I am experiencing a similar issue where the gpu is not stepped down, as once you start using it it stays at 1.02ghz, rather than 135mhz on mountain lion. Have tried 2 different system definitions so far, maybe should go back to macpro3,1 and see if thdat fixes it.

Edit: Macpro3,1 system definition seems to be fixing it, it looks like the gpu is being properly powerstepped to its 1.16ghz rather than 1.02 and down when I'm not using it anymore. Guess the iMac14,2/13,2 either require more 'hacking' or different hardware ( i5 3570k + GTX760 )

thanks for the reply Exc1te. This is exactly what is happening for me except I'm already on 3,1 sys def.

Would you suggest trying a different definition?

B

Are you using graphicsenabler?

I have the same problem on gtx 760...

Currently it looks like Mavericks is very conservative in stepping the GPU down, after quitting Dota 2 it will take about 5 minutes before it actually steps it down to 135mhz again ( that is on Macpro3,1 system definition ) so it doesn't look like its only related to the system definition you are using, but might be some other issue in mavericks.

On windows there is an option to stop power stepping completely since some games ( BF3 ) can't handle it very well, I'm wondering whether Apple has done a similar thing with the conservative stepping to make things more stable / lag free.

Im using graphics enabler= no.
I'll try a fresh install tomorrow.

I've noticed the CPU is running hotter since upgrading as well

I too had ML running perfectly and now my 660 won't step down its clocks.. pretty annoying, I'll be using W7 partition until someone finds a fix to this.
Extra degrees aren't welcome here since we're getting into summer weather :p
PS: Already had sysDef as MacPro 3,1. Maybe I'll try other definitions later on.

You could set the definiton to Imac13.2, it also use the IVY CPU and the kepler GPU.
But if you want to use the Power management, you should add your GPU ID to AppleGraphicPowerManagement.kext/info.In this info, the Mac-FC02...is for the Imac13.2.

for the gtx 760 + i7 4770?
