This is a great forum. Thanks for the help so far! I think I'm almost their.

I'm planning to install 4 HD's.. 2 ssd (240 GB), & 2 7200's (2 TB).

For the 7200's, I found these..
Seagate ST2000DM001 Barracuda 7200RPM 2 TB SATA 6 GB/s NCQ 64 MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive

Anyone no of any issues using these for a hackintosh?

I'd like to choose my OS when I boot up.

My plan is to install windows on one ssd, and mountain lion on the other ssd.

I'd use one of the 2tb hd's to store my movie files, and the ssd of the OS i'm using, as my cache/render engine for editing. The other 2tb hd would be used to back up the first one w/ my movie files.

Then I'd use an external to backup my 2 ssd's.

Just looking for confirmation or suggestions on my set up as this is my first build, and I've never attempted two OS's. I'm a current imac user and will be using the machine for video editing.

The rest of the system will include..

Intel Core i7-3770k
Gigabyte Intel Z77 Dual Thunderbolt ATX Motherboard with BT4.0/Wi-Fi (GA-Z77X-UP5-TH)
Corsair Vengeance 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CMZ32GX3M4X1600C10)
(x2) SanDisk Extreme SSD 240 GB SATA 6.0 Gb-s 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive SDSSDX-240G-G25
EVGA GeForce GTX670 2048MB GDDR5 256bit, 2x Dual-Link DVI, HDMI, DP, 4-Way SLI Ready Graphics Card (02G-P4-2670-KR)
Corsair Graphite Series Black 600T Mid-Tower Computer Case (CC600TM)
Corsair Professional Series 650-Watt 80 Plus Certified Power Supply compatible with and Platforms - CMPSU-650HX
Corsair Cooling Hydro-Series All-in-One High-Performance Liquid CPU Cooler CWCH60
TP-Link Wireless N Dual Band PCI Express Adapter with 3 x 2dBi Antenna (TL-WDN4800)

Thanks

Craig

Looks OK to me. If I am understanding you correctly, 1 ssd=Win7, 1 ssd=OS X, 1 HDD=cache/scratch disc/storage, 1HDD=backup for first.

As for dual booting with 2 drives - connect 1 SSD, 1 mouse, 1KB, 1 display. Install an OS (doesn't matter which)
Update OS and add more apps as needed. Shut down.
Disconnect SSD, connect blank SSD. Install other OS, update it, add more apps as needed. Shutdown.
Connect first SSD and the HDD's, boot to BIOS and make the OS X SSD first in drive boot order. Save&Exit, continue boot. At the end of the BIOS post you will have a couple of seconds at the Chimera screen to hit a key and select Windows to boot instead of OS X. If you would rather have it stop and wait for you to select an OS, when you run MultiBeast for post install chores, select Instant Menu option.

Thanks, this is PERFECT. One more question, I'm buying a video card, but since my processor has one in it already, would it be best to get the OS's up and running, and then install the new video card, and try to configure it..

Or should I install the new video card before starting.

Thanks Again, the dual boot list is exactly what i needed.

I would install with the iGPU first. Main reason is that it gives you the opportunity to install the drivers for the gfx card before you install it. Just don't forget to boot to BIOS after you install the drivers and change the First Init Display from iGPU to PEG or PCIe, whichever your BIOS calls it.

EDIT: this assumes you made iGPU first when you installed. If you left it on auto and were able to install OK, then don't worry about it.

cscuilla - I'm having problems with basically identical specs. Were you able to get your Hackintosh up and running? I'm trying to get Snow Leopard on mine as it is supposed to be the best to edit FCP 7 with. I've been trying for days now and no luck. What in the BIOS did you do? This motherboards BIOS are set up differently than anything in any tutorial pictures. I put iBoot in, then put the Snow Leopard Retail DVD in, hit F5, then enter and I can only get as far as the Apple(NO spinny wheel either as a lot of others have had). Any help at all would be greatly helpful.

Gigabyte Intel z77 Dual Thunderbolt ATX Motherboard
SanDisk Extreme SSD 120GB
Intel Core i7-3770K Quad-Core Processor 3.5 GHz
EVGA 02G-P4-2670-KR GTX670 2G
LightScribe BluRay Burner
6 TBs of HD(removed just in case)
32GB of Corsair Vengeance Memory (4x8GB, 3 removed for installation, so technically 8GB)

Your problem with installing SL is your hardware.
a. Your gfx card is not supported in any version other than OS X 10.8.2.
b. your mainboard and cpu are Ivy Bridge.
There is absolutely no support for Ivy Bridge chipsets/CPUs in the 10.6.x Snow Leopard kernel. You cannot install and run Snow Leopard on Ivy Bridge and boot from HDD.

Workaround to get to the app store to purchase ML. Says right there in the announcement:
For those of you looking to run Snow Leopard on Ivy Bridge CPUs, know that official kernel support and CPU support is not in the OS at all.... All without doing any post-installation- just booting directly from iBoot Ivy Bridge. The ultimate goal being Mountain Lion

So I'm gonna have pretty much the same setup but a little different.I planned on having 1-SSD Mac boot drive 1-HDD Mac storage/ 1-SSD Windows boot drive 1-HDD Windows storage. Should i just follow the instructions posted by Going Bald or is there a different way? Im just not sure how to order the installs and also move around my home/user directories so that only the files i want end up on each drive. Sorry first time hackintosher here :/.
