    Slugnet's Video Editor - GA-Z77X-UD5H, i7-3770k, Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 Ti

    hello,

im looking to build this as my first hackintosh. I found some contrary opinions about nvidia 660ti card and his performance on FCPX, some people say works great, other that it doesnt even work at all.

Its really that bad, does anybody has some updated opinions about it? do all of them fail with fcpX, or this only happen to some people? there its anyway to fix it (latest nvidia/cuda updates or code editing) ?

A little update: I got the Carbide 500R case and now this baby is quiet!

I want to get a second cheap graphics card, like a GT120 purely to run monitors out of, so that I can use all of the GTX 660ti for processing and CUDA accelaration.

Anyone have experience adding a second graphics card?

Thanks so much! My first build went great. I ended up using the gtx670, and everything's working great. Indeed, when installing with 10.8.2 the graphics cards *just work* so to speak.
Used MultiBeast 5.2.1 today... seems fine. Thanks again! You rock!

    H
GA-Z77X-UD5H + i5 3570k, Asus GTX 660 Ti 2GB, 16GB, ssd + 6hdd:s atm. Been having problems with Aperture freezing system, most of the times system hangs that music/video i had playing in the background still keeps running but nothing happens, mouse moves nothing else.

First week i used multibeast 5.1.3, didn't use Aperture then. Worked with premiere pro, got some system hangs with screen tearings but only couple times. I did use istats.

After multibeast 5.2 i didn't get in to the system again. So i read all the comments of mb 5.2, reinstalled ML and started testing. Everything worked without hwmonitor and/or istats. But after i started working with Aperture i got lots of freezes, reverted back to 5.1.3, no change.

Been testing lots of things, 1 and 2 monitors, analog/digital audio, with and without nvidia drivers, ssd/hdd partition installs, removing GPUSensors.kext. Nothing works. And now i am testing to export my pictures out of Aperture and importing them to Lightroom. Tested working in lightroom with 90 photos and movie running background, didn't freeze but moving sliders gives tearing in the sound and jumps n the movie.

Just don't know what to do, i got 30000 pictures in Aperture database and have to do lots of videoediting wich is the reason i made this build. Need to get this working.

    Any ideas?

Edit. i did a brief test with integrated HD4000 but it took 3-4 times longer to boot up and only 1024x768

Does anyone know of or can they recommend a second cheap graphics card that is compatible with Slugnet's build and will, ideally, support two dual-link DVI monitors with 2560x1440 resolution?

Gigabyte GT640 works well and is a good budget card. Works with GraphicsEnabler=No. The card does have dual DVI and it is supported natively in ML. Nvidia Kepler chips seem to be getting a lot of support.

Thanks for the response! Looks promising. I suppose it's not possible to get a card that supports 2x dual dvi and only takes up a single slot? Does anyone know if the EVGA GeForce GT 610 1024MB will work? More generally, how do I tell which card is natively supported by ML?

I'd recommend you post your question in Buying Advice as more eyes will see it there. Have you checked in the Graphics Forum section for any members using two dual linked monitors? I'd be curious to see if you find anyone doing this - you may be leading the fleet, as the olde saying goes.

Wondering if you could help me out to figure where I went wrong.

    GA-Z77X-UD5H F14
    i7 3770 / HD4000
    Corsair DDR3 32gb
    Internal Graphics (for now)
    Seagate Barracuda 7200 750gb HD

Loading ML in itself was hell but what finally worked was I rebuilt the Unibeast USB and did not check the Laptop box in the install procedure.
    (built it on a MacBookPro)
Also I reset the CMOS and just ran The BIOS as Optimized settings other than the AHCI setting.
It finally loaded. Also was able to reboot and set ML up after loading. I only had one screen resolution as well.
I then ran Multi-Beast. (this is where I may have messed up)
Now, when I reboot and get:

"Reboot and select proper Boot Device or insert boot media in selected Boot device and press a key"

When I try to boot from f12 selecting the HD as boot it hangs. (see below)
If I use PCIRootUID=0 I get the grey screen of death and the ball.
I pulled the HD and everything seems to have installed. Could it be a bad HD or not Compatible?

Since our boards and processor are the same and I'll be using the beast for Post and Photo editing.
    1. What BIOS settings did you use and what Firmware? F14 came installed on the board when I purchased it.
    2. Is there a way to boot ML and reset Multi-Beast (if I did mess up) I would like to avoid rebuilding Unibeast and re installing ML but "I do what I gotta do"

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks

Frustration level at a low 6.5 but only because I have too much work to concentrate on at the moment. lol
