Hi Everybody,

I have been struggling with the issue of my Hackintosh freezing during the use of my external USB 3.0 drive which is connected through a USB 3.0 Hub (HooToo), for quite a few months now, and have tried several suggestions from the forum with no luck.. such as:

The computer works perfectly for a short while and then suddenly and seemingly out of nowhere freezes requiring a manual hard reboot, i have observed CPU spikes with every freeze, as seen here: Skærmbillede 2015-03-28 kl. 15.07.50.png

Relevant Bios Settings:
xHCI mode - Set to Auto
xHCI Handoff - Set to Enabled
EHCI Handoff - Set to Enabled
Turbo Boost - Set to Disabled

I have tried with system definitions Mac Pro 3,1 and iMac 14,2, without any luck.

What could be a possible solution to this never ending frustration for me? :banghead:

just use Clover as bootloader and you will have no problems anymore!

That's what i'm seeing as one of the only possible solutions left, is it possible to install clover on the install that i already have, or do i have to do a clean install?

Try to use the Multibeast USB generic Kext, even if not necessary.

I have used the USB generic kext from multibeast for a while, with no added benefit.. I removed it again after reading the thread i linked to in the initial post

Seems like nobody has a working solution at this point, and that this problem continues to be unsolvable... :?:

So i think the only possibility i have is to try using Clover as my boot loader.

Did you try using USB3.0 without the hub ?

Yes, I've tried plugging the USB 3.0 HDD directly in with the same freeze, and i have even discovered that it doesn't only happen with USB 3.0 devices but also USB 2.0 drives. So the problem is apparently with all USB HDD and Flash drives, because my USB Bluetooth Dongle, and Logitech Unify Dongle do not affect the freeze.
