I have just completed my very 1st attempt at a Hackintosh
All is going "OK" so far but having trouble with a 3 niggles - any help would be greatly appreciated....

1. BOOT
I can only boot using "-x" if i try to let it boot alone without any flags it just hangs on GREY APPLE Screen.
Has anyone overcome this?
I have loaded Chimera 2.2.1 using Multibeast 6.1.0

2. AUDIO
Does anyone know what ALC Driver to install from MB for his board? - currently have no Audio - The only thread i found was saying use ALC892

3. USB 3.0
Some of the USB ports are working and some are not. Is the only thing i need form MB the USB 3.0 - Universal? or has anyone found a better fix?

My Set Up is:
GA-H87N-wifi

[h=1]Intel Core i5 4570 Quad Core Retail CPU (Socket 1150, 3.20GHz, 6MB, Haswell[/h]8GB DDR3
OSX Mavericks - from APP STORE DOWNLOAD
PLUS OSX Server

Many Thanks

I have the exact same board (using the 4770k) in my setup and everything works perfect. My multibeast settings are as follows:

Quick Start > DSDT Free
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > Without DSDT > ALC892Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > Without DSDT > HDAEnablerDrivers > Disk > 3rd Party SATA

Drivers > Disk > TRIM Enabler > 10.9.0 TRIM PatchDrivers > Misc > FakeSMC v5.3.820
Drivers > Network > Intel - hnak's AppleIntelE1000e v2.4.14Drivers > System > AppleRTC Patch for CMOS ResetBootloaders > Chimera v2.2.1

Customize > Boot Options >
Generate CPU States
Hibernate Mode - Desktop
Use KernelCacheCustomize
1080p Display Mode
System Definitions >
iMac > iMac 14,2
I didn't use any custom driver for usb and they work perfect on my build. I have the Version 2.0 of the motherboard with F4 bios version. I mention that in case you are using version 1.0 and if you are, I will recommend you to update the bios to the latest version. Also, did you made the necessary changes in the bios settings? You need to change couple of thing in order to avoid using the -x flag at boot.
Take a look on the first post for the bios settings of your motherboard ---->

Im on to it now - I'll try a fresh install with all those settings. Keep u posted

thanks again

Your welcome, just in case you don't have to do a fresh install to change the settings on multibeast. Just run multibeast with the new changes.

All working mate - thanks for the very helpful notes....
Did end up doing a clean install just for peace of mind really...
all went smoothly everything i want to work is working - even a PCI Firewire Card i wanted to install to drive some External HDD's
Even installed OSX Server, so i've now got a pretty powerful and fast OSX Server !

Hi,
I've stuck a 2TB Sata Drive into my machine, the system found the drive no trouble at all and showed it as 2TB etc...
when started Mavericks it immediately said Drive not initialised do i want to initialise ignore etc....
i clicked initialise thinking i could format it in disk utility mac os journaled which it began to run, but stuck.
re-booted machine and now it shows the drive as 4TB and it trys to initialise it each time i start up - cannot solve this - any ideas?

The drive shows in BIOS and also in Disk Utility (BIOS shows correct drive and size) DU shows correct name etc... but shows as 4TB size !?!

Thanks

I'm assuming the hard drive is a new one and it was never formatted to be used as a start up disk before. Did you make sure that the partition options G.U.I.D. was selected?
