Hi Folks!

Im very happy with my recently built new Z87/i7 4770k Hack.

But i have a very annoying bug - i dont know if it is hack related or another dammit Mavericks bug.

Here it is:

I have all of my movies on an internal 3,5" HD. My OS ans iTunes are on my SSD. I have set iTunes to NOT copy the files into the iTunes folder. So when i add a Movie to iTunes (however via drag&drop or Import command) my hack freezes totally. No mouse movement, no beachball - even the little watch in the menu-bar stopps. I have to push the on/off button to put it off (there even the reset-button doesnt work!!).

Can someone please try to do something similar and post if the Hack crashes?

Thanks in advance!

Hi again!

I did some research...

No Problems on my old Mac Pro 3.1. Only here with Haswell Chipset.

I have further tried if it happens with newtorking off - nope freeze again.

But then I found something: With my own Movies (the ones ripped off my DVDs n BluRays) there is no crash! Only with the few I bought from iTunes Store (stupid me...). Luckily there are only a few with ****ing Apple DRM... (**** Last Boy Scout is one of em... :(

Thx guys for the fantastic work here!!

And happy Holidays!

I am having the exact same issue. Everything I have ripped works fine, anything that is iTunes Purchased locks up iTunes, and freezes the computer, needing a full hard reboot.

Haswell Chipset 10.9.1...

One more +1 for this strange behavior

I just followed the Budget CustoMac hardware guide and ended with an Haswell i5,H87-D3H with 8GB RAM, Evo 850SSD and 10.9.1 and everything else (well,.. except iMessage) works. But when I try to play or import one of my bought movies the system hard freezes.:banghead:

I already tried to remove "AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext" which was mentioned in the forum, but with no luck.
Cheers, Roh7

Not only that:
My system also freezes when I try to rent a movie in iTunes. Do you have the same problem?

I'm having the same problem. Adding my own ripped DVD movies works fine, but adding previously downloaded itunes movies or trying to download from cloud cause the entire system to freeze and requires a hard reset. When downloading, it's fine throughout the entire downloading until the "processing" stage.

I am also seeing this problem. I can copy songs without issue.

I can copy a typical 1080P HD movie on the order of 5 GB from/to any combination of USB2/USB3/SSD/HDD without issue.
