A fresh install of El Capitan on an Z97X-Gaming 5 motherboard with an Atheros Killer E2200. While the network is working, its only running at 10baseT. Its plugged in to a gigabit switch, any attempt to manually set it to 1000baseT disconnects the network.

I have used the latest Multibeast and installed the: AtherosE2200Ethernet v2.0.1

Can anyone assist me in improving the speed of this, does it need any Clover tweaks? My installation is running amazingly other than this so thanks for all the help so far guys! :headbang:

Kind Regards

Atheros Killer Network on Z97X-Gaming 5 Auto Negotiate

Just discovered reading the specs its actually a:

Qualcomm[SUP]®[/SUP] Atheros Killer E2201 LAN chip (10/100/1000 Mbit)

Is the fact its a E2201 and not an E2200 the problem? As I say it works fine just very, very slowly.

After a bit more googling and trial / error I located this a Kext which I placed in the Clover 10.11 Kexts folder, rebooted and hey presto .. 1000baseT working like a charm on my Atheros Killer E2201!

I can't figure out how to marked this as [SOLVED] so if a mod could do that for me I'd be grateful.

Happy Days!

I have the same mobo and problem.
Just copy that kext to efi folder? anything else?

Mine, not working, have same problem.

Yep thats was all I did to get it working, maybe check your hardware ID's are in the Plist file inside the driver.
I no longer have this motherboard so can't investigate it much further for you.

Kind Regards

Hopefully someone else with the same problem in the future will find this solution.

I'd change the title of the original post to "Atheros Qualcomm Killer E2201 El Capitan Fix". It should then come up as a more pertinent search.

I tried this, didn't work for me, I have same mobo & CPU, only I'm running a GT610. I couldn't get gigabit, only 100BT and it would crash after a while. It sort of worked, sort of didn't. I didn't get a green light in network prefs. I found Multibeast installs the kext in the wrong place - in library/extensions when it should be as OP worked out in the EFI kext folder. I found AtherosE2200ethernet v2.1.0 works perfectly for me when installed there. Although I haven't tested gigabit, the network preference shows gigabit mode is now available.

BTW this is my number 2 computer that is a GA Z97MX Gaming 5.

Hey guys I have a Z97X Gaming GT 1, with the same E2201. I’m fresh installing and I would like to know which file I should use. I’ve already installed Sierra. Version 10.12.0. Lmk please!
Multi beast lists be following :
v2.1.0
v2.2.1

@aeromero000, please update your profile (account details) with your Motherboard, CPU and iGPU or Graphics Card(s).
If you have a prebuilt computer enter make and model instead of motherboard.
The Rules said:

AtherosE2200Ethernet v2.2.1 should work.
