While many of Intel's highest end Core i5 and Core i7 Skylake CPUs were released in early September, the more budget oriented Core i3 models have only just started to become available. These socketed desktop dual-core 51 watt CPUs have 4MB Cache and no Turbo mode. Skylake Core i3 CPUs fit the LGA 1151 socket and pair with 100 Series motherboards and DDR4 RAM.
PLEASE NOTE: This hardware is cutting edge. Although iMacs have been released with Skylake CPUs, and some support has been added in 10.11.1, it's brand new and DOES NOT work well with OS X yet. For fully compatible desktop hardware using 4th Generation Haswell CPUs and 5th Generation Broadwell CPUs with 9 Series motherboards, please see this month's CustoMac Buyer's Guide.
