Hello there,
Thank you for answering my questions.
I own a professional recording studio and it's time to get a hackintosh.
I've been on windows for years even though I used Mac OS before, it's time to use mac os and windows simultaneously.
I already have a PC with a i7 4790 (3.6) in it.
I've been looking at the CustoMac Pro section and saw that my processor fit that category.
My question however is,
Is it possible to get a ddr4 motherboard that'll run with my i7 4790 and expand from there buying ddr4 ram 32 GB. Perhaps 2 years later or something I could just get a new faster processor and it'll still work with the motherboard since the motherboard is a newer model than the i7 4790. That's my goal but I don't know if such a motherboard exists, please help me out friends :)
Also.. as you might have guessed I need this PC to be silent since I'll be tracking/mixing with it so whatever suggestions you got for me about that, I'm all ears.
Thank you!

I too run a commercial studio and have done so on hacks for years. I build a silent rig about 5 months ago. Not sure you want to waste your time with ddr4 memory. Not even sure there are approved motherboards on here that support it. Get yourself a Z97 board and 32G of ram and you will be flying with your i7 4790. I went with mATX for a smaller form factor and am running fanless. Smoking fast machine and I run Pro Tools native with lots of tracks and plugs with no problems..

good luck

Hello there, thanks so much for the reply!
Excuse my ignorance but matx means it's a smaller motherboard, correct?
And when you say fanless you mean for the tower itself, the cpu still will have it's default fan, correct?
I tried to pm you but I don't have 75 posts :/
I live in Istanbul Turkey so we don't have all the specific models here but we do have z97 motherboards, would love to ask you for some more info on your system!
Cheers
Mahmut

BoomR is a recording engineer, too. See his (sticky) posts/threads in our Music forum section.

May I ask what brand/model RAM you're using, crucial by any chance?
And what about the power supply, is it a silent one?
The silent fans in the case, they're default ones, correct?
The only fan you changed is the cpu fan?
Thank you!
