I'm a bit curious about this, and so far my searches on the interwebs have given vague answers.

I know that Asus, MSI, Asrock etc is listed as compatible, but almost every build i see is with Gigabyte motherboards. Are they still better than the other brands despite all of them using a UEFI bios?
Or is it simply a matter of taste?

Personally I think AsRock boards are the way to go. Their price to features is off the charts, I have never had any quality issues with them, and their Bios always seem straight foreward with plenty of options, unlike many other boards that seem to want treat you like they are your nanny.

Last MSI board I had was a Z87 that didnt even have the option to try pushing a 4590k past 4Ghz. Traded it in for an Asrock z87 extreme4 in the same price range and had all the options I could ever ask for.

When I had to build an X99 platform with 128GB of RAM, and server memory was all that was available in 16GB chips, an asrock x99 extreme4 was about the same price range as the common gigabyte UD4 board, but the extreme4 supported server memory and 128GB, the UD4 doesnt support either. I sure dont see the upside to the gigabyte.
