Hello,

I know it may be a silly question to ask but I thought I'd ask to make sure...

Currently there's an August buyers guide and I'm keen to start building my Hackintosh however since El Capital will be released in September (I'm assuming it will be released then).
Do you think those hardware listed in the August buyers guide will support El Capitan? (Or alternatively, has the hardware in the past supported the following OSX version?)

If there are too many factors involved to give an answer, I understand that but just want to gauge how it's like whenever Apple releases a new OSX.

Currently I've got an old crappy Windows desktop, planning on building a fairly robust desktop with the option of dual booting (Windows and OSX).
That's my story! :p

While it is not possible to accurately predict the future, it has in the past been possible to use Intel hardware with newer versions of OS X. This is the supported Apple hardware at present for El Capitan:

Similar pc based Intel hardware should also be able to work with El Capitan. There is a testing thread at present for people using the PUBLIC BETA only:

Its an ongoing work in progress at this point in time. ;)

If you have access to a Mac that you can create your installer with then pick your hardware from the buyers guide to get started. If you do not have access to a modern Mac or Hack then you can start by using iBoot Haswell/Snow Leopard to begin the process.

Newbie tips.
Get a processor with supported HD4600 graphics - all are listed in the buyers guide. Use a digital video connection between the board/GPU and monitor. 15 pin VGA is unsupported.
If using a GPU, then this will not be supported if you start your installation with Snow Leopard. GPU support will come with Yosemite/nVidia drivers.

Thanks for the fast reply! :)
With regards my access to a Mac, I fortunately do have access to one.
I have 2 Macbook Airs and a Mac Mini, so I shouldn't have a problem getting the OSX downloads via the AppStore.

I still have this PC is because I play games (CS:GO really) and I also at the same time want to get a more powerful Mac as the Macbook Airs are just too flimpsy (in terms of performance) hence why I feel a powerful custom Hackintosh will be the perfect solution :)
Fast enough for me to continue gaming but at the same time I can have OSX on it!

Good to know that hardware support has not been dropped from Yosemite and iOS 8 to El Capitan and iOS 9.
Hopefully this translates as "Easy upgrade" for Hackintosh users! :)

Looking at the documents, I think my biggest challenge may be getting Continuity to work (or getting Wifi/Bluetooth cards from old iMacs, looking at this thread: http://www.tonymacx86.com/network/1...apple-mini-cards-pcie-mini-pcie-adapters.html)
