The i7-6700K Skylane (1151 socket) processor is not released to market yet. Later in the week (or whenever it is released to the public), tonymacx86 will release his build description on a Skylake - Z170 system.

BTW, the 6700K will not fit on your Z97M motherboard. You'll need a 4000 series processor.

Maybe this is different in other countries, you can buy the processor and the sockel 1151 mainboards with the Z170 chipset since 5. August 2015 in retail stores and online at least in Germany.

Edit: Prices and availability https://geizhals.de/?cat=cpu1151

You can buy the i5 in the US, but the i7 is still not available at Amazon (Currently Unavailable) or Newegg (Coming Soon!) or Micro Center (1-2 weeks) in the US. So, those of you outside the USofA get access to the i7 before us - lucky you.

tonymacx will publish his findings soon as he gets a Skylake processor, installs it and tests out the OS X installation(s). So, hang in there, gang. Just remember being an Early Adopter is a PITA. I can attest to that with my experience with Hector. ;)

The i5-6600K and i7-6700K model processors are not supplied with a CPU cooler. Remember to buy a suitable third party cooling solution if you do not already have something suitable.

Good advice- there is no thermal solution with the i5-6600K and -i7-6700K.
Motherboards and limited CPUs are available in Australia, and I'll post separately my luck with getting OS X running on an MSI Z170A Gaming 5, i5-6600K and m.2 SSDs

Hey! I have a new system with an Intel i5 6600k on an MSI Z170A PC MATE motherboard.

I've been trying to boot into the El Capitan installer from Clover, using fake CPUID:0x0206C0 (Haswell). I'm using "Option B", as I wasn't able to get the legacy method working at all (although I admittedly didn't try very hard, I could fiddle with it some more).

Unfortunately, I'm stuck in a boot loop. The screen quickly flashes:

"OsxAptioFixDrv: Starting overrides for .IABootFiles\boot.efi
Using reloc block: yes, hibernate wake: no
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++_"

...and then reboots.

I've already disabled all of the standard stuff in the BIOS (Intel VT-D Tech, Intel C-State, CFG Lock)

Anything in particular I should try? I know it's still early days but it would be cool if I could get this working, or at least see how far I can get. If you need more information just ask. Thanks!

i sure hope someone helps you here. I've been tempted to make a temporary 6600 build until the 6700s are actually buyable.

alternately, please post if you get any of this figured out.

thanks!
