Hi all,

I'm a total novice at building computers, but through the help of this excellent site and its forum I now have a dual boot Win 7 and Yosemite Hackintosh that basically works. (No sound on OS X yet, but I will get round to fixing that soonish and I use an external audio interface and Airplay anyway so not a huge pain).

I have the Gigabyte Z97N-WIFI with an i5-4690K in a Cooler Master Elite 130 Case. It is, I understand, the European version of the motherboard and so has no Thunderbolt/DisplayPort/Mini Displayport on the back panel.

This is a shame as I have an LG 34UM65 which I love but currently cannot spit out 2560x1080 through HDMi (it works with Win 7). Everything is stretched 1+1/3x, as you would expect. I understand the same would be true if I used DVI-D. My Macbook Air works perfectly with this monitor through a miniDP to DP cable.

Anyway, as I'm not a gamer, I wasn't in a rush to get a Graphics Card originally, but I have room in the case and am happy to spend the money to solve my problem since this might result in an overall performance improvement for some tasks anyway. It would be more painful to have to set the whole thing up again on a different motherboard.

So there you go, I would like your advice on a GPU or any other hardware solution if there is one, my three criteria in order are 1) Displayport 2) Simple and not too expensive 3) Not too much tinkering needed to get it to work on the hackintosh.

Thanks in advance and sorry if I've broken any forum rules or missed a similar thread.

Certain video cards require DVI-D to get the 2560x1080 resolution. Mine does.
