If any one is looking for a PCI-E USB 3.0 controller that has 100% native support in OS X 10.9.3, I can confirm that the ORICO PFU3-4P works perfectly in 2010/2012 Mac Pros (installed and used heavily) as well as Hackintosh builds (have two installed in my rig). The card uses Apple's native USB 3.0 driver.

You can find them locally here in Asia or on Amazon if you live overseas...

Don't forget to plug in the aux power to the card. It is required for proper operation. :geek:

I just installed ORICO PME-4U on my system and it does not work. I tried just plugging it and nothing. I then tried PXHCD.kext 1.0.10 O believe it was and still nothing. This is what system profiler says under USB.

USB Super-Speed Bus:

Host Controller Location: Built-in USB
Host Controller Driver: PXHCD
PCI Device ID: 0x1100
PCI Revision ID: 0x0001
PCI Vendor ID: 0x1b73
Bus Number: 0x00

The Orico card I used was the ORICO PFU3-4P. It essential to make sure you order the exact part number I used as Orico uses several chipsets in their various cards. Not all Orico cards work natively with OS X.

Also make sure the aux power is plugged in as well.

The aux power is plugged in the one you listed is $80 on amazon. The one I got is the updated version of your card.

What currency is that? USD? If so that price is insane. When I bought the cards I am using it was not even HKD $240 a piece which I believe is around USD 30. Maybe try another store.

Also keep in mind that even if you bought a newer part number than the one I am using, it does not gaurentee that it's the same chipset. For OS X native compatibility it's all about the chipset.

No.1 Chipset :)

Out of curiosity, I went to the amazon site and checked the latest price on the ORICO PFU3-4P (which is the 100% native OS X compatible card I am using) and the prices are between USD 20 and USD 30. There is one crazy shop asking for USD 79 but there is no need to buy from them

Originally I bought the ORICO PFU3-4P for use in the Mac Pro 5,2s and used them extensively. In a Mac Pro 5,2 you need to either take power from one of the drive sleds or wire up an adapter to bring it down from the optical bays. I took the easier route and moved a hard drive from the #4 sled bay up into the optical bay and used a SATA power adapter to connect to a Y adapter from sled bay #4 to provide aux power for the cards.

On my Hack Pro, it was much easier since PCs have more power ports and more cable routing options then the old Mac Pro case.

I ordered the ORICO PFU3-2P other post people said they had a lot of success. Should just be the 2 port version. under the main link the were all around $80 but I did see after looking again one for $25 but it was all black and I think I saw it before and thought it was the same One I bought because it was all black and every ORICO PFU3-4P one I saw was a chrome back and orange board. The ORICO PFU3-2P comes tomorrow so we shall see. Also just FYI I am using 10.9.4

The four port version is what I have (PFU3-4P) and its metal plate is black. Have a look at the photo albums in my profile if you want to see what it looks like.

I am also on 10.9.4. The four port version works well. The two port version you bought (PFU3-2P) has the same chipset so it should work fine. Just be sure to hook up the aux power.
