41b.jpgTech Powerup provided a few details on the next-gen GeForce GTX 880 graphics cards which may be released as soon as July 2014. The DirectX 12 ready cards will based on supposed GM204 chip- Microsoft recently revealed DirectX 12 at a Game Developer's Conference.

It may also have only a single 6-pin power connector instead of the usual dual connectors on higher class GPUs.

Here are some specs:

  • 20 nm GM204 silicon
  • 7.9 billion transistors
  • 3,200 CUDA cores
  • 200 TMUs
  • 32 ROPs
  • 5.7 TFLOP/s single-precision floating-point throughput
  • 256-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface
  • 4 GB standard memory amount
  • 238 GB/s memory bandwidth
  • Clock speeds of 900 MHz core, 950 MHz GPU Boost, 7.40 GHz memory
  • 230W board power

NVIDIA usually releases high-end graphics cards first, trickling down to lower-end graphics cards later in the year.

Wow! only 1 6 pin connector? That seems counter-intuitive to me. More cores, I would assume would require more power?!? Regardless, I'm looking forward to the new tech. I was hoping to see bandwith bumped up to 512 like the R9 cards.
