Finally had to resort to posting for assistance on this site. I have followed instructions to install El Capitan on a UEFI based system via GPT. I have since reformatted the hard drive on a Dell Inspiron 17R N7110 laptop running an Intel 2430M processor with 8GB of DDR3 memory. I have boot menu entries that I cannot remove no matter what I do. The boot entries are:
Clover start boot.efi at El Capitan
Clover start boot.efi at Recovery HD
Clover start boot.efe at El Capitan
Clover start boot.efi at Recovery HD
CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive
Hard Drive
Removable Drive
eSata
Network
Windows Boot Manager
Diagnostics
Yes. The entries show twice. I am with the impression, that the entries are what's preventing me from accessing the BIOS.
And if anyone is wondering. I had flashed the system with an unlocked bios from bios-mods.com. It works great for allowing UEFI support, and GPT partitions. Since I can't get into the bios, I have to resort to standard MBR.
I have tried to reinstall the clover bootloader (legacy) and ran various commands like fsck -fy, bcfg boot dump followed by bcfg boot rm ##, etc. I have also recreated the EFI partition (200MB, Fat32, copied the Clover folder) ran the bcfg commands again and nothing seems to work to remove the EFI entries.
Currently I get a blank screen when I press F2 to enter the Bios. The computer is functional otherwise.
I am at wits end and am in need of assistance. Thank you to anyone and everyone for your help.
