Well, as ever, not a popular board so not much literature out there. Hope this is useful for someone.

My battery was dead on my board, so as a by the by, I wrote down my settings when I replaced.

BIOS [hold down DEL key]
- Load optimised defaults
- Advanced BIOS Tab
. - Init Display 1st - PCIEx16
. - Onboard VGA - Enable if no ext PEG
- Integrated Per Tab
. - SATA AHCI mode - AHCE
- Power Management Setup
. - ACPI Suspend Type - S3(STR)
. - HPET Support - Enabled
. - HPET Mode - 64 Bit
Save and Exit

When I tried the clover usb, I got kernel panics mentioning HPET incorrect - however poking around clover configurator after installing via unibeast there is an HPET fix ticked, so I guess that fixes that anyway.

////
EDIT - THIS USES THE ALTERNATE POST INSTALL METHOD FROM TONY
Swapped out a drive and attempted to use multibeast, did not work. I now understand that I need clover installed to the root of the drive.
///

So the steps I took to install:

- FOLLOW THE GUIDE! Set up unibeast stick as described.
- Download all the stuff mentioned in the guide - Ethernet didn't work out of the gate so make sure you've got it all on a spare USB stick.
- Boot from unibeast stick [F12 at boot, then choose USB-HDD]
- Disk Utility, wipe the drive
- Install OSX on the new clean drive
- Reboot, tap F12, boot from newly installed partition
- Continue El Cap setup (you won't be asked about icloud, as ethernet doesn't work. yet.)
- At desktop, run post installation tools from Tony: Legacy mode, Customac essentials.
- Open Clover Configurator
- load config.plist from Root-of-your-drive/EFI/CLOVER
- SMBIOS Tab, magic wand, iMac, 1155 [figured it's the closest to the truth, why not.]
- Graphics Tab, inject NVIDIA [obviously, depends on your card].
- File, save, saved to desktop, manually replaced the file in Root-of-your-drive/EFI/CLOVER

- All great, reboots reliably BUT - no audio, no ethernet.

- I tried the ALC110 method for audio from the guide, but I couldn't get it to work for some reason. It's an 889 board, but errors were thrown up within terminal when I tried it. Gave up, come back to it.
- Ethernet - AtherosL1C is the kext you need. I put it in EFI/CLOVER/KEXTS/10.11/ and then in Clover Config, open config.plist, System Parameters Tab, Kext Injection needs to be set to YES. Then obviously save, replace the file.
- Audio take 2. As multibeast 8 isn't ready yet, I bought a £2 USB plug and play audio adaptor. It's dumb, but it's simple and it works. The one I got has a bit of a buzz on it, I've got a logitech one that's a couple quid more on its way from China that hopefully will be a bit less noisy. I know it's a cop out, but my computer rack favours function over form. Sound has always been a pain to sort on that board, so if I can plug in and fix it, I'm happy!

Anyways, hope that's useful to someone.

EDIT - Point to note - no USB3 currently. It acts as a home server, so it's not an issue for me at the moment. I'm sure MB8 will have a solution to all the problems.

So I needed to swap out my main drive, which has 3 partitions on it, HServeOSX (the OS), Data, and Music. I thought it would be a simple job - for some reason, not so much....

Long story short...

I had troubles with boot0af, and hanging at PCI Configuration Begin.

I tried using all my old installers and unibeast stick (pre MB8), and for some reason, it didn't work.. I tried using MB8, still didn't work...

So after much trial and error...

- Wipe the drive entirely, create 1 partition, call it blank. (this erases the EFI).
- Repartition, with whatever structure you want.
- Install from Unibeast Stick.
- Reboot from stick into new partition (HServeOSX).
- Download post installation tools & Clover Config. (on another computer, no ethernet yet...)
- Install "Clover_v2.3k_r3220_Legacy.pkg" - NOT THE ROOT VERSION
- Install Customac Essentials.
- Open Clover Config, mount EFI.
- File, Open, config.plist from EFI.
- SMBIOS Tab, magic wand, iMac, 1155 [figured it's the closest to the truth, why not.]
- Graphics Tab, inject NVIDIA [obviously, depends on your card].
- File, save

- Reboot, Hang at PCI Config Begin. Look around for solutions here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...st-solutions-el-capitan-install-problems.html

- H61M, can't be that different to H61N, so I tried disabling USB3 in bios, and it worked.

- Reboot a couple of times to test...
- Still Works...
- AtherosL1C kext to EFI Kexts folder, switch on kext injection in clover config (save), reboot and works.

- Audio, I'm still using the Logitech cheap USB thing. Why not, it works OOB, and this machine is a server.

- Backing up current state to a "CleanClone" partition - just in case...
- Updating via app store...
- Going to use migration assistant to get my user back, and then delete the temp user I created to set up. (It's worked in the past, wish me luck!)

As ever, despite all my swearing at the machine, it wouldn't be possible without this amazing community, so thanks Tony and everyone who's been in my shoes for your tireless work documenting what works and doesn't, and how to fix it!

Thanks for the write up! I've got a H61M-S motherboard and going to give it a shot with your guide.

You mentioned "FOLLOW THE GUIDE! Set up unibeast stick as described" <----- What guide are you referring to? Any other tips since your install?

Hi @bocajoe - I mean follow Tony's guide, current one here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...ierra-on-any-supported-intel-based-pc.200564/

I've not updated my signatures or re-posted but I'm actually running 10.12 now. Tony's guide (as linked) works much easier than this method.

Essentially my guide for my gigabyte board is:

-BIOS as above, except I had trouble with the USB3 enabled. Try it, if you get KP then ditch it. This machine is a server so I can live without it.

- Clone your drive
- Create your unibeast stick
- Boot to unibeast stick
- disk utility - wipe the partition (I like to have a spare small partition called cleanclone, I get the system working with multibeast then clone it to that one so I can always get back to a working system).
- install OSX
- restart, boot to UB stick, then boot to new OSX install
- run multibeast - these are my settings:

Quick Start > Legacy Boot Mode
Drivers > Disk > Intel Generic AHCI SATA
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC v6.21-311-g2958f55.1723 Bootloaders > Clover v2.3k r3766 Legacy Boot Mode Customize > System Definitions > iMac > iMac 14,2 Drivers > Graphics > Inject NVIDIA

- reboot

- then clover config - see above to make sure you open the right config file.

- AtherosL1C kext to EFI Kexts folder, switch on kext injection in clover config (save - might have to save to desktop), reboot and ethernet should work.

Good hunting everyone!

Wow... thanks a million marked! Sure do appreciate the link and all the good info/tips!!!!! :headbang:

WISH ME LUCK... I'm going in!!!! LOL

Oh marked, How big of a partition for the cleanclone you mentioned do you recommend? I like the idea

Mine is 60GB but that's way more than needed. I think the minimum required is 16GB but if you've got the space then just go 30gb or so, should be plenty. The thing to remember with cleanclone is that the EFI partition is separate - config.plist will stay the same if you wipe your main partition. Took me a bit of head bashing against wall to remember that when it went wrong. But it's still useful to have an S/L/E backup before I mess with it installing other things.

Excellent. I'll go with 60GB. Looking forward to trying the install soon and hopefully not too much head bashing for me. Thanks again!

 WOW!!!! Everything seems to work!!!!!!!!!! Thanks marked for the awesome guide!

I had an old 2GB Nvidia 560GTX that I threw in there and it seeks to be fine without installing Nvidia drivers... I assume this is because your guide suggested "Inject NVIDIA" from MultiBeast. Not sure if CUDA is working as of yet.

Only thing that I need to address is the Sound which I know you had an issue with the onboard sound as well.

Can't thank you enough for the guide and then the extra help along the way... you rock! :headbang:

I was able to get the on board sound working AppleHDA Patcher v1.6. A little difficult, I wish I would have paid more attention as I'm not sure how I eventually got it working but most importantly it's working.
