Hi,

I am trying to find out how to create the correct DSDT file for my computer.

I have found this which seems very helpful to me:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=85344

But still kind of specific to one type of computer.

I have one question.

If you have two of the same motherboards, with the same BIOS version and settings, will the DSDT files be the same and require the same fixes?

OR do the things attached to the motherboard (CPU, RAM, GPU, ETC) change the DSDT file and so also require different fixes?

Thanks, James.

No, a DSDT is just an extracted Bios with Modifications that OSX can understand. -> http://www.tonymacx86.com/wiki/index.php/DSDT There are a lot of DSDT's in tony's DB -> http://www.tonymacx86.com/dsdt. I'm in Germany and have my DSDT from there, Mei Ling is from China and Jack Murray from New Zealand and they're using the same DSDT because they have the same MoBo and the same Biosversion than me....and it works. Is that the answer you're looking for? :p

OK,

Cool, so if someone else has made a DSDT for a mobo, and says that it works, there shouldn't be a reason that it doesn't work for me?

Even if I have different graphics, or CPU or RAM etc?

I guess though, I am trying to get the internal HD3000 graphics to work, and I would really like dual head. So that may be a different setting in the BIOS and so could affect the DSDT?

I have this:

http://ark.intel.com/products/52214/Int ... e-3_40-GHz)
http://www.corsair.com/memory-by-produc ... 600c9.html (only 4gb plugged in at the moment)

And the option of this (although not plugged in at the moment)

user mike661 who posted a DSDT and his spec:
Jetway NAF92-Q67
Intel i7 2600
12gb Gskill
Asus Nvidia 210GT

and I have had no luck with his DSDT, kernel panics.

not sure if it's because he is using a different cpu, ram and graphics, or if i'm doing something wrong.

If mike661 use the same MoBo and Biosversion than you and his DSDT works for him, then you have either wrong Bios settings or you did something else wrong (or both). His DSDT should work for u too, it doesn't matter which CPU, GFX card or which RAM or the amount of RAM size u use.

ok, i guess i just have to wait for him to reply so i can copy his bios settings, or keep trying and guessing ....

Same fixes - yes, but the DSDT's will be different and you can clearly see the differences via DiffMerge.

For example: Asus P5K-E motherboard requires re-patching the DSDT after adding RAM, otherwise the system just won't boot. This example is quite radical thou, but with other motherboards you may get various stability issues while using someone else's DSDT.

yeah i am getting that picture now!

i would love to be able to edit my own dsdt so i can make changes to my hardware and not need help from someone else to patch my dsdt file again!
