hi,

on the DSDT files for gigabyte where do you find the f1 f2 f3 f4 f5 on the model name of the motherboard that ur planning to buy?

thanks

You don't find it on the motherboard. You have to assemble your hardware and look at the first screen at boot up. Look at the upper left corner and you will see your motherboard's number followed by a bios version number. That's what you need to pick a user DSDT.

What oldfred said about finding the BIOS version on the first screen is correct. Your question however suggests you are a bit confused about the BIOS. I'll try to help.

The F2, F3, ...F11 etc represent "revisions" of the CODE that is installed in the BIOS hardware of your motherboard. Some folks call that FIRMWARE to differentiate it from regular software.
You, as a regular user, can change that BIOS revision code which is stored in your motherboard.. Typically the instructions that come with your motherboard tell you how to "update" your BIOS code. Usually folks update to a more recent BIOS revision as they come available. You can download from the motherboard vendor's site. Sometimes, there is no DSDT in the TonyMac86 database for the BIOS revision that has been factory installed in your new motherboard. Then when there is a DSDT for a previous BIOS revision, folks may "upgrade"[revert] their BIOS code to the revision for which there is a DSDT. Other times folks try using the DSDT from the database even though the revision ID doesn't match.

Rarely when the settings you make for the BIOS of your motherboard get very messed up you need to CLEAR out all code from the BIOS hardware and start with a FRESH revision install. There are 2 pins on Gigabyte boards that you short to do that. You may never need to do that however.

On Gigabyte boards you get to the screens that allow you to change the setting for the BIOS you hold the DELETE key while you bootup.

For Gigabyte boards, you usually have two ways to update the BIOS code. One method uses Windows, while the other is self-contained. Gigabyte recommends you use the self-contained method. I recommend you follow that advice.
