Hey,

I want to use the DSDT file in the DSDT database, but I don't know which version of the firmware I have on my board. Does anyone know how to tell? I tried just using a random version but prevented me from booting.

its listed in your bios ...usually on main screen..

also listed on post screen.

the bios doesn't say anything about my board version at all.

The post screen flies by too fast to read anything on it -- is there a way to get it to stop on the post screen? I thought keyboard error would do it, but that apparently takes me to some fancy "recovery" menu... where it automatically disables halt on keyboard error

i dont know why your bios doesn't list what version it is..did you look at every page.....
you can try pause key on post screen,or you should be able to set a time in bios to display post screen in seconds,so try extending time limit in bios..
bios and post screens are many and varied, but it will list it on one of them somewhere.

Hi,
I just finished yesterday building a rig based on this Mobo.
And I tell you what : she was a bitch to get running OK.
But eventually I made it, so here's how :

My build :
CPU : i7 2600
PEG : Sapphire Radeon 6870 1Gb Vapor-x
HDD : Samsung 128Gb Sata3 SSD.

Problems encountered while making it a hackintosh :
-The dreaded ACPI no driver kernel panic : I had to install from a usb stick instead of DVD.
(I don't have any windows machine, so I just used disk util on a macbook to format the USB stick then cloneX3 to clone the install DVD to the stick + add 10.8 update dmg and multibeast on it...

-Then came the REAL problems : DSDT edits from the database would not work...
Turned out the board came with F3 bios (which is not listed in the database)

-Updated to latest stable bios : F8... only to find the DSDT edit from the database Still would not work...

-Messed around with Sata ports on which the DVD and HDD were plugged, to no avail.

Eventually here's what worked :
-REVERTED to F4 BIOS and F4 DSDT.
-Went through the entire install + multibeast + update process with video from the onboard HD graphics (DVI) that I had to activate in the BIOS for it to work. Also duriong all the process I booted from iBoot exclusively.

****Deleted npci=0x2000 kernel flag in the chameleon config file ****

-Reverted BIOS to PEG card to display the video only before rebooting from the HDD AFTER 10.6.8 upgrad
-Did NOT use Lnx2mac network driver : they did NOT work with this board, whatever version I tried. Realtek drivers did.
-Used ALC889 audio kext + HDA Rollback for audio.

Hope this helps

Hi Demerdland

I have the same board, but the latest bios f9d and had to make my own dsdt based upon Tonymac's and it's avaiable here viewtopic.php?f=14&t=34966&p=220241#p220241

To see the board bios information you must first disable the Gigabyte's welcome screen at the bios config, then check the third line after you reboot, there it is GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3-(bios version).

The realtek driver works, but first you need to insert your device id into the info.plist.

cheers

I use this motherboard with F8 Bios and EasyBeast. Works perfectly and awesome results
