What do the F numbers relate to? I cannot find any reference in the description of the motherboard. Which one should I use for the current Customac mini build? F5 F6 F7? Are these version numbers?

Gigabyte GA-H67N-USB3-B3 H67 LGA1155 Mini-ITX Motherboard

Thanks for any help understanding.
:headbang: Cheers!

Does that mean I need to flash the motherboard with the latest bios? gigabyte says it's risky?

This is my first computer build, so I'm trying to figure out all the pitfalls

Thanks!
Mat

its not realy risky, Gigabyte will be on the absolutly secure site ;) .
Just download the bios (i use the f7), unpack it, copy it on an USB Stick, after booting you are able to update the bios by the bios update function.

It means when you flash the bios and power fails in mid-process then your mainboard becomes unusuable. Some boards have backup-bioses, aka. "Double-Bios" or "Dual-Bios" which is meant to prevent that from happening with offering a backup in case of such a mishap.

So to say, flashing a bios is 98% safe, with 1% bad luck, and 1% bad n00b being left in the equation. ;3

Thanks for asking the question. I'm confused too. My motherboard (Gigabyte H61M-D2P-B3) says that it is Intel H61/rev 1.0 I cannot find any reference to an "F" number anywhere. I even looked in the cmos setup for a clue. Nothing there. I don't necessarily want to flash the board, just make sure I download the correct DSDT file. This must be obvious, but somehow obvious is escaping me right now. Can anyone help me figure this out?

In the UPPER left, following your mainboard model number.

Lower number/letter than your DSDT always works, higher number/letter requires flashing the bios, but not always - first boot with your DSDT and check if it maybe already works.
