Hi

thank you for this very useful site Tony

I succeed in snow install, with DSDT fix. But when I change bios settings o overclock, I have Kernel panic or very slow computer if it boots...

Can I modify entries in DSDT to reach an higher clock speed ?

THank you

If overclocking (which I don't do currently) you should refer to a few of the overclocking threads posted here- there are some users who have done it with great success. But I'm pretty sure that if you have SpeedStep, or have removed NullCPU powermangement you may have issues.

You can't overclock via DSDT- you must do it in the bios.

Anyone else care to chime in?

Are you running Prime95/Intelburntest along with Memtest for stability before going into mac os? Also, are you leaving Vcore, QPI/VTT, PCH Core, CPU PLL, voltages on auto or setting them manually?

Do you have an aftermarket cooler?? Also please link your memory for me and fill this template out with your settings pls :)

Hi,

thanks for your (fast) answer !

I have added NullblahblahCPU extension in /Extra/extensions and now i'm able to boot in overclocked mode.

For info the bios settings are :

CPU Frequency
3,50 Mhz
BCLK :enabled
BCLK Frequ : 166
SPD : 8
All other fields untouched

And the result is :
Geekbench 64bits : 10300
Cinebench R10 : 18500

Wow ! It's quite faster than my Q6700 OC'[email protected] Mhz !!!!

CPU is hot when overclocking so I added a monster cooler Noctua NH-D14

Now temps are I get 62° (29° idle) when all cores 100% or running cinebench or 3D app with full power.

The only problem is that I lost the sleep mode... Any solution ?

Thanks

i'm not sure if you can have sleep mode while using the null kext. for sleep to work you usually have to remove it.

I take it you're hitting 3.5 with 21x? Anyway, do you have c3/c6/c7 enabled (or auto) and have everything checked under energy savings? If you do and its still not working, just download SleepEnabler.kext from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. ... pic=196466 throw it in your extensions folder, then drop your Extensions.mkext onto KextUtility. Reboot, and you should be good to go. :)
