Dear Fellas,

major ON/OFF/ON problem with a X58A-UD3R 2.0 and (aktual Final release 2011-02-28) FF BIOS.
I tried QFlash- as well as @BIOS-method, both went OK and I checked the H/W. :beachball:

The symptoms are shown here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkUx5CFIPZA
The Problem occurs since BIOS-update from FC to FF. "Optimal Defaults" loaded, Turbo dissabled - problem persists.

So I put a topic to the german Gigabyte-Forum and called Gigabyte-Service in Germany some days later, both stating this:
"Update to BIOS FH1 JZ. There will be no more final BIOS releases for this board"
The FH1 JZ is a test BETA BIOS and seems to work better than official Beta BIOS FG:
http://www.jzelectronic.de/jz2/index.php

I'd rather not give up my properly-working-on-1st-attempt-with-no-issues OS-X 10.6.7-install and try out if I might get it to work with EasyBeast and stress the forum with even more stupid questions coming up then ;)
Because Gigabyte is f***in' up in such an important issue... :banghead:

Is there any chance to get a working DSDT for this board with FH1 BIOS?
Please hint me to relevant topics, if there are.
Or should I return my X58A-UD3R if both does not apply...?
Getting  on this...

I can tell you that I have FF with an excellently running machine.
I too have the start stop start up issue and had it since say one. I even RMA'ed my board and it came back doing the same thing lol

I use sleep all the time and if I shut down my system I never turn off the PUS to it so I don't get the studder start up. Also Notshy has same board and has the same start up issue as well.

Use DSDT Auto Patcher, That's teh best way ;)
- you suggest flashing the BIOS testwise, kill my system and "have a try" to do it that way? - It seems it needs some tweaking afterwards, but I'm not very skillful in this...
Is it in any way superior to the iBoot + MultiBeast method?

I meant my nights, when I mentioned "sleep" - technically speaking this no issue so far. Thats why I like the iBoot + MultiBeast method, it worked out of the box for me.

@ eelhead:
So you and notshy just live with this issue?
I wouldn't rely on a buggy BIOS, especially when the CPU and/or RAM frequency is affected, as my very first start screen indicates 3,33 instead of 3,2 GHz WITH OPTIMAL DEFAULTS LOADED.
Have you tried to OC your system?

At my start up screen the Bios states my CPU as 3.07Ghz when it's a 3.06Ghz.
I haven't tried anything with OC as of yet. I will wait until Lion is released and I am updated to that.
There are so many of our boards on FF and I haven't heard or seen any other bios issues.
I also can say that the start stop start is not a bios issue, it has something to do with hardware. I started with FE and it did it and now I have been at FF and it does it so I will just sit with it here. My system is just about bullet proof and the 10.6.8 update only messed my audio and app store sign in. Both easily fixed.

That would be a correct roundup, as it is 3,066 isn't it?

I think I'll update to 10.6.8 and stay with that for the rest of the boards lifetime. No joke!
And no need for lion on X58, I guess. It brings Sandy support mainly if I understood things right.

There are so many of our boards on FF and I haven't heard or seen any other bios issues.
I insist on the attempt for a new DSDT, as the so called FINAL FF BIOS is not working properly and there will be no more proper Finals, as GGB stated. Why live with this malicious behaviour and a bad taste at startup? Is it that hard to build a DSDT from such a test-bios?

I also can say that the start stop start is not a bios issue, it has something to do with hardware.
Well, both I guess... Try a more sufficient PSU and it might work or try an older bios and might work. Try both and it might not work...
CPU, RAM or drives do not seem to be the subject here.

I started with FE and it did it...
buggy too...

Yeah Lion will bring Sandy support but it will have so much more with it. Improvements in software and some new stuff as well.

As for a call for a new DSDT, there is nothing wrong with the DSDT posted here on the site. It was built and tested just fine. That is not the root cause of the start stop start issues with our board, it is a possible hardware issue. DSDT is set on the the OSX drive and the OS hasn't even loaded yet when the bios posts. The DSDT is saved in the Extra folder on the OSX HDD. I can also duplicate the issue with just my Win 7 HDD connected with nothing else.

I have tried different PSUs and Ram as well with no change.

It did it with FE and that is what makes me think that its a hardware issue.

That is totally clear.
...it is a possible hardware issue
It definitely is a hardware issue - related to the board and the current BIOS.
BIOS FC should work fine, but does not give full EFI- and AHCI-support, if I understood things right.
I can also duplicate the issue with just my Win 7 HDD connected with nothing else.
Of course.

The call for a new DSDT would serve ALL owners of this board.
Again - why live with this malicious behaviour and a bad taste at startup?

I'm thinking about switching to a X58A-UD5 rev 2.0 because of this.
Any issues with the X58A-UD5 rev 2.0 and BIOS FD?

I just explained that the DSDT is working fine and the issue lies in a possible hardware flaw in certain boards.
If you want to go through and make your own DSDT then give it a shot.

As for the UD5 I haven't seen or heard of any issues but I didn't hear of any issues with UD3R until I got it and had issues lol.

Exactly! Now what if I want to get rid of the flaw? - Load new BIOS... but there's no DSDT...
And even more, because there are so many UD3R user, it really would make sense to solve this, don't you think?

EDIT:
Iguess this is self-explanetory, even though you might not speak german:

This post is from the guy who build the beta BIOS, he knows best. HE IS WARNING ...AHCI-PROBLEM ...DO NOT USE! He is selling this stuff...
I don't want to start with such FF bullcrap! :banghead:

Loading new Bios did not fix my issues as I stated before. If it did it in FE and now in FF and there will be no more Bios updates where does that leave you? At FF.
You can back track and get the older Bios versions and the DSDT to match but if the board still has that issues how is rewriting a DSDT to fix an issue that occurs with out a DSDT suppose to fix it?
If you want to get rid of the flaw then RMA the board and hope you get a different one back because When I RMA'ed it I got back the same board with no fix to the issue.

Or you could update to the FG1 bios and do up a DSDT for it manually
