First time patching a DSDT

Got the .bin dump from windows, converted it to .dsl on Ubuntu 11.4 (or whatever the latest one is as of June 19th, 2011) and edited it compiled with zero errors under mac using DSDTSE and loading okay

Code:
Intel ACPI Component Architecture
ASL Optimizing Compiler version 20091214 [Dec 16 2009]
Copyright (C) 2000 - 2009 Intel Corporation
Supports ACPI Specification Revision 4.0

ASL Input: /Users/jo/Library/Application Support/EvOSoftware/DSDT/DSDTFiles/dsdt.dsl - 10485 lines, 345256 bytes, 4321 keywords
AML Output: /Users/jo/Library/Application Support/EvOSoftware/DSDT/DSDTFiles/acpi_dsdt.aml - 39115 bytes, 1085 named objects, 3236 executable opcodes

Compilation complete. 0 Errors, 0 Warnings, 0 Remarks, 19 Optimizations

I put in the new DSDT after I got my build working already but it seems to have broken stuff again but it might be because all I've done was get rid of the warnings but I don't know if I did it properly.

I put the DSDT.aml in to Extra's folder as said and replaced the old one (deleted and renamed to DSDT.aml). Hackintosh booted really quickly.

NOTE: I cannot guarentee this will work for anyone else and it might be broken entirely.

Current setup:
i5-2500k
8GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM
Asus P8H67-M EVO board
Asus AMD HD6850 graphics card plugged into a monitor via HDMI

installed on a 60GB Vertex 2 HDD, 2 other drives are mounted as well.

installed hackintosh via P8P67-M Pro guide and 95% of my build works

after DSDT replacement no built-in audio (HDMI or sound card, usb works).
skype crashes but the computer boots and loads much faster and is very responsive

The audio over the built in is probably fixable, and I'll test out over HDMI. Gfx still works with the drivers I'm running. I'll try to clean up this post as well. I'm going to bed now I really was just experimenting with this for 3 minutes and decided to share and see if anyone else wants to take a look while I nap.

EDIT: I also attached the un-modified dsl as well.

I'm wondering if this would work on a P6H67-M boards as it seems the only different thing is the soundcard chipset.....

do you have now a sleep enabled hackintosh with this?

not sure if this fixed sleep or not kuz I'm using the sleepenabler kext and pmVersion=23 and sleep works fine that way I'll try without the sleep kext and pmversion tonight i guess.

I tried to install the sleepenabler kext and I got a kernel Panic that was only solved by TimeMachine.... are you using SL 10.6.7? if so, where did you get the sleepenabler kext?

Have to use sleepenabler sleep doesn't work without it just tried now.

----

I'm using the sleepenabler kext from andy recommended. well I think i got it from kexts.com anyways i'll load it but I HAD to use pmVersion=23 in the com.apple.Boot.plist as well as sleepenabler or it would KP

Here's the sleepenabler.kext i'm using in a zip that's the same one I downloaded

EDIT: FYI Skype works fine just needed to reinstall it... maybe that's the same issue for DVD Player that everyone with the 6850 is having

Well I can confirm that sleep enabler doesn't work on P8H67-M board running osx 10.6.7

KP and had to restore system...

well that sucks :(

i'm using x86_64 as well as pmVersion=23 if it helps do you want to send me your DSDT dump from windows? the windows program i used to dump the apci_dsdt.bin was

everestultimate-discontinued-550-o1kx4dyabh

it's discountinued but the trail is available to use for a few days. if u want to get a dump of your dsdt i'll try to compile it under my system and see if that'll help work with the sleep.

for my asus it was pretty easy so I don't mind trying

edit:

from what i've read i dunno if it'll help or make things worse or not. I'd suggest you have a pc to write/edit the mac partition just in case. thankfully i'm dual booting.

btw you should be able to get the dsdt.dsl from linux right away by downloading and using the iasl for linux.

Well... I actually have a DSDT I extracted with DSDTSE on macosx

And it compiles with only a few warnings... BUT I removed it from the extra folder as it was giving me nothing... Sound card was detected but not working at all (done a lot of work on it and I gave up until a good DSDT shows up from somebody that really understands them). I was not getting the SATA interface names, etc. So I saw no real advantage of having the DSDT in the Extra folder.

I removed it as I want my system as clean from external files as possible....

But as you said you have it on place... so that might be "the magic" thing that makes your sleep working and not mine... so I will try again tonight.... gosh... I really hate to try this stuff as it means another visit to TimeMachine...

PS: I guess there can't be any difference from a Windows/Linux extracted DSTD and an OSX extracted one.
PS2: I have a dual boot PC (OSX/Win7)

i don't know it was the DSDT or not that fixed the sleep because I had a typo when I tried it the first time. Also, there might be a difference between OS X and windows if you are using a bootloader. From Andy's boot CD it apparently uses a DSDT already and if you use DSDTSE it might extract that one?

I just used Windows to be safe. Also, I don't if the warnings made a difference either since I didn't bother trying to use the DSDTs with them. It's possible because my warnings mentioned that the DSDT was trying to access items with the wrong reference and there was one that was something about a possible loop.

You are correct though we probably need someone to actually patch these DSDTs all I did was fix the errors so far. ATM I'm away from my hackintosh so I won't be looking at this till the 4th of July.

Tonight I will try the 10.6.8 update. I have the feeling that this update might solve all the weird problems with this board (sleep and ALC888 detection)....

I will write down how it goes on the forums...
