Seems like many people are trusting DSDT Auto-Patcher programs to extract and modify their DSDTs. This is a great idea in theory, but in practice can lead to unidentifiable issues with booting, etc...

If these tools are working for you- great. But otherwise, do yourself a favor and use verified, pre-edited DSDTs from our DSDT Database with the exact BIOS versions. It's really the only way to know that what you're putting in your /Extra folder is not going to render your system unbootable.

If you do use an autopatcher, we recommend MaLd0n's DSDT Auto-Patcher, which has been tested at least on Gigabyte boards and works well. Extremely good job organizing generic edits for a huge amount of mobos and laptops.

Speaking on the topic of ASUS motherboards and DSDTs, although many of the fixes are standard across all of the 1156 and 1155 motherboards, some are not, so by using our DSDTs which have all been manually edited, we are covering all minimal/standard fixes and warnings that appear when initially compiling them.

For example, the ASUS P55 series motherboards all have their specific bios versions and in turn, some DSDT.aml files require a few more fixes, while some require less.

The same idea applies to the Gigabyte DSDTs as well.

Although DSDT Auto-Patcher programs may work for you, we recommend that you download a manually edited DSDT for your system from the DSDT database if you intend on installing one.

Thanks!
