Hi all.

So I recently built a new machine with windows 8.1 on it, and although I had in the back of my mind the fact that I may one day want to run OSX so I can use Logic Pro X, I just couldn't bring myself to buy a Gigabyte motherboard. Yes, I'm an ASUS fanboy.

Anyway, I've had a scan about and can't find any support anywhere on this motherboard, short of finding forum posts where people have got similar motherboards working (Z97-A pops up a lot).

So I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction? I'm sure I need a DSDT Patch but I'm stumped as to where to locate one, or how to make my own.

For the time being I'm going to run Mavericks in a Virtualbox so that I can have a play around.

Cheers.

Chris.

Asus z97-pro (wifi ac)

I'm a total newbie to Hackintosh and even Mac/OS X, but i managed to get this board working with the help of reading all of Toleda, TonyMac and everyone else's great posts. Literally, when I first put this hardware in the case, I didn't even know what a Kext was. Thanks everyone!

My Hardware:
Asus Z97-Pro [Wifi ac]
4 x 8GB RAM
Samsung Pro 850 SSD

Using:
Clover Bootloader
Onboard HD4600 Graphics (No External video card)
Onboard ALC1150 Audio
Onboard WIFI
Onboard LAN
In order to get Graphics working i used the "Quick Fix for 9 series video"
In order to get Audio working I had to follow Toleda's guide for 9 series audio. I struggled with this one, until I noticed some discrepancies between the "written" part of the guide, and the actual plist to be merged. See the screenshots below for the "kext patches".

Everything works so far with the exception of:
Sleeping (Haven't even tried yet)
App Store works,
iTunes works.
iMessage (Need to call Apple with Customer Code).

It took me a bit to muddle my way through understanding everything, but basically I followed a guide installing on Z97-Deluxe (using Clover), and then adapted.

Basic Steps were as follows:
1) Create Clover USB Boot Stick with OS X Installer on it.
2) Install OS-X on the SSD.
3) Boot from USB stick and run OS X on the local HD (SSD).
4) Install Clover on the local HD (SSD).
5) I Used Clover Configurator to tinker till I got it working...Here are some screenshots for the newbies like me!

Click the magic wand on SMBIOS tab .

On, and here is my /EFI/Clover/Kexts/10.9 folder:

Like I said, I am a total newbie when it comes to this stuff. I figured out that part of what makes Clover such a neat choice is that it allows you to effectively setup a tweaked/patched environment from the EFI partition, and then hopefully boot a relatively vanilla OS X install in that environment.

Good Luck everyone! Happy to help however I can.

Frank, can you attach your files in "Clover folder"?
And I have another question - did you patch your dsdt anyway? Or your system is stable without patching dsdt?
