FirePro W7000 Compatibility

Hello guys, i'm not new in hackintosh world, but my problem for the next build is the GPU.

I'm working on a "cheap" professional videoediting workstation:

i7 4930k
GA x79 UP4
Corsair Vengeance Pro 16gb
Samsung 840 EVO 240GB
Corsair h100i
Corsair RM850
GPU: ?

I'm looking for the best GPU out for new Adobe CC and Cinema 4D, so i need something that works good with Open CL.
Theese softwares (withe the latest versions) optimize the use of OpenCL, and i've seen that AMD GPUs works very well with OpenCL instead NVIDIA. Plus the new Mac Pro is built with 2 FirePro GPUs.

My question in particular is: is the FirePro W7000 compatible with last Mavericks hackintosh?

I own a built with a GTX 770 4gb and works well so in case, the 770 is the alternative of FirePro W7000,
because for a good and durable Quadro i've to spend too much (the budget is 400-800€ for the GPU).

280x works OOB now. 290 ( Hawaii ) will be supported in the future. W7000 is the same chip and Apple uses the same drivers for all variants. 290 performance is only about 10- 15% than 280x. If you need Adobe is more optimized for CUDA than openCL. The hardware raytracer is CUDA only.

Yeah Adobe is optimized for CUDA in particular on the raytraced 3D in AE.
But GPU accelleration in Premiere for example is better on an AMD where the Open CL is more powerful.
I can do without "raytraced 3D", because i can use Cineware or Element 3D, i'm going to choose and AMD GPU.
This will be a videoediting workstation, so will be used mainly Premiere Pro CC.

So if the W7000 is not supported (becasue is Hawaii), i can buy safely a R9 280x, and maybe in the future crossifre with another?
 
W7000 is supported with Clover ATI injection (tested from 10.9.2 to 10.9.4).
It's recognized as HD 7600 4Gb and work as fast as it can. Luxmark OpenCL benchmark is around 1250 witch is not bad but very weak for the price (HD7990 did twice the job for the same price and Radeon R9 290x2 is around 5000 <- not supported yet !).
The only thing in favor is that it's single slot and there are not much cards matching this requirement these days.

EDIT : multi-display seems to be a problem though.
Default FrameBuffer loaded by Clover is Futomaki but this one only gives single display (DP 1->3 one at the time)
Forcing Junsai FrameBuffer gives 2 separates output (DP 4 still not working)

What we would need to adapt AMD7000Controller.kext personalities would be a dump of the actual BIOS. This needs to be done with windows...

My guess is if we had the Video BIOS dump we could match it with http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/134197-ati-personality-patcher-work-progress.html : ATI Kext Util.app (from the same thread).

I'm a complete noob regarding ATI patching as I always managed until now to get a OOB (or Nvidia Web Driver) working Nvidia GPU.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. There is no other single slot GPU that I know of that could match this card specs (4Gb RAM and 4 DP output).

Hey I'm using a Mac Pro 4.1 Spec's are pretty good but I am also looking for a proper work station card. So I use Adobe Premier Pro for the Main Video editing but I sometimes jump to FCPX for quickey animations and edits. Adobe Pr renders 4K Great on my EVGA GTX 980 SC with the CUDA support but FCPX will take forever to render already pre-rendered videos just with a cut and a bit of text added and will sometime's mess up the video with artifacts.

I know its due to Nvidia not been properly optimised for Open CL which is FCPX main rendering method. so this is the road I think I will have to go down. run a ATI w7000 and the GTX 980 at the same time so should fix this compatibly issue. but I really want to make sure that this w7000 will work on 10.11.3 can anyone confirm that first? and would there be any issue's running a ATI and Nvidia Card at the same time?

Why would you want a W7000 when its slower than the 280X?

Also its unclear how FCPX or Premiere would work with a 7000 AND a GTX 980 both in the system at the same time. I know (as I have tried it), that FCPX doesn't handle different architectures very well, I tried an Intel onboard graphics AND a 280X. I have never seen any method of directing FCPX to use a specific GPU when you have multiple types of GPU. You may well find you have the worst of all worlds rather than the best, though I'd be interested in how it goes.

the main attraction to the AMD Firepro w7000 is the "VCE" which is a multistream hardware H.264 HD encoder. for video editing it should be amazing and consumer cards don't have that sort of hardware on board. it may even make my GTX 980 redundant in Adobe Pr as well unsure of that though.

considering Nvidia's been so behind in Open CL and it's pain staking to do any video editing now a days. plus I found the W7000 for sale for €375 new so I guess I wont loose my shirt on it if every thing dose go tits up.

Also as far as I remember in OSX
App support will depend on the screen you display the app on unless it is GPU aware.

 
OK wasn't aware of the VCE element. I think the 4790k has some hardware encoding as well but probably not to the same level.

Fcpx is GPU aware so I would not assume that putting an fcp x window on the right GPU will make fcpx stick to it though.

Let us know how the W7000 goes
 
Has anyone tried the W7000 yet? The price are low at the moment.
