I had a short budget to make my first mod. So I tried to keep it simple as possible.

I used an power g4 sawtooth case and keep it as original as possible and didn't cut any plastics/acrylics, etc.

The list of parts I used in this build is:
Motherboard Gigabyte Ga-H97m-d3h
Intel I3 4170
Corsair CX430 Power Source
Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600
TP-link PCIe wireless card
IceBlade 12cm case fan
160GB WD 2.5 sata Harddrive

The picture below shows the mod finished and fully working (actually, it's working since last october 13th).

CPU temperatures always below 60º and running El Capitan 10.11.2

For more details, take a look at the complete build thread:

That looks really nice! I have a MDD G4 that I always thought would be cool to make a server in or the like. However, hard drives would be tough to get in there, especially the number I'd be looking at. One thing though, you mentioned the temps, but what fans do you actually have exhausting? Just the power supply?

you did a fantastic job. I'm a tad jealous. These cases really take me back and make me feel very nostalgic of my college days. I tried to find one on eBay but no such luck. :(

Hi guys. Thank you.

Right now I'm using just the exaustor fan besides the power source fan. Exchanged the old fan for a new one... IceBlade 12cm

Until now I can't put the temperature sensor inside OSX working. istat pro shows only HD temps.

BUT, I enabled the motherboard alarms to temps higher than 60ºC for System and Processor. Everything appears to be fine. It did some beeps when I was importing a bunch of pictures using adobe Lightroom. So, I'm planning to put one more fan. Not sure where, when or how. :)

In the motherboard's bios the temps always appears below 50º to CPU and below 40º to System.

I played Call of Duty 4 for many hours recently. No beep.

About the hard drives. Theres place to put 4 3.5 HDDs with little or no modification. The most difficult is to connect them because the cables aren't easy to place. You can even plan to put more HDDs vertically fixed in the side (just need to plan and drill the holes). For 2.5 drives (SSD) you can put it outsite, between the metal case and the plastic plates. I saw one example in the forum.

Right now, I'm using a 2.5HDD 160gb as System and documents, and a 1TB 3.5HDD for everything else.

Where do you live? Keep looking. I Live in Brazil, and here is hard to find one with good price, but I did.

Absolutely fantastic man!
Great, clean stock look reminding me of the amazing times in the early 00's. Perfect.
Keep up the great work!

Kind Regards,

Man I loved the G4 case back in school days. This is a 100% awesome retrofit! I featured you on my IG profile "hackintoshkings".. hope that's okay!
