Hello,
My Z77X-UP4 has the VIA VL800 USB chipset and it is not supportable by MacOS X.

Is there any USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 PCI card that is supported by MacOS X or any another way to install ??

EDIT: I apologize, mod could you move this topic to Forum → The Build → Buying Advice please ? :)

What you need is one of these http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-ULT40299-4-PORT-USB-Bracket/dp/B001SH2BDI/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1343815601&sr=8-7&keywords=usb+2.0+bracket
It'll allow you to add four rear USB 2.0 ports via two of the pin-headers on the board (there are three in total).
Alternatively you could use something like this for the USB 3.0 pin header which connects to the Intel chipset http://www.amazon.com/Biostar-Aluminum-Front-Panel-CABLEUSB30/dp/B0058NN1A0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343815919&sr=8-1&keywords=usb+3.0+bracket

Hi thelostswede,
Thank you! I just bought the usb 2.0 one. I thought I'd need a pci-e card, my bad.

My case (Carbide 400r) has 2 frontal USB 3.0 ports. are they connected to the Intel chipset?
Because I tried to use them to install Mountain Lion, but the usb thumbdrive boots like this:

Regards.

Yes, they are indeed connected to the chipset.
I've had the same problem, just try to reboot and you should be able to boot from the USB drive, that seems to happen at random and I have no good explanation for as to why it happens, but it doesn't happen every time, at least not for me.
Btw, did you enable EHCI/xHCI handoff in the UEFI?
I'd suggest unplugging all the Windows drives as well while you install OS X, just as a safety precaution.

Hi thelostswede,

Yes, EHCI/xHCI handoff in the UEFI are enabled.

I've tried plugging the thumbdrive on the frontal ports and now it does recognize the usb.

But I'm still getting that symbol.. In verbose mode / verbose+safemode i got the "Still waiting for root device" error.

My sata port 0 and sata port 1 are SATA3, that's a problem, right?
I don't have a DVD drive. Do I need one?

I've tried these commands (Found them searching on the forum):
USBBusFix=Yes
PCIRootUID=2

I've tried plugging my SSD disk (with 10.7.4 already installed on it, got it from my old macbook pro mid-2008) on all the SATA ports, still getting "
"Still waiting for root device" \:

Is there any hope to make it work?
Thank you..
