Hi guys,

Just starting out down the hackintosh path, couldn't justify the cost of MacPro, and the iMacs have no spare internal bays, so hackintosh it is :)
I have around 7 HDDs + 1 SSD to put inside the case, currently they are all floating around as externals.

Currently I'm running a late 2008 MacBook Pro with OWC 100GB SSD and 8GB RAM (10.6.8), but the video card is dying and battery has exploded and since exited the scene ;)

This is the hardware I have purchased so far:
XFX Radeon 6970 2GB
Intel i7 3770K
G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB RAM (2x8GB)
Corsair TX650 power supply

This is what I am intending on purchasing:
Antec Eleven Hundred case (or any better recommendations?)
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP5 TH motherboard
Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler
Mountain Lion

Is there a DSDT available for this board yet? Any gotchas I need to be aware of other than updating the UEFI first?

Are there any other Aussies here that know where I can get this mainboard locally or from overseas cheaply? Nobody seems to have heard of it here.

Cheers :)

Board has been ordered via NewEgg and PriceUSA (nobody in Aus sells them yet), just need case and CPU cooler. Settling on Coolermaster CM690 II Advanced USB 3.0, and Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO cooler. Going to computer markets next weekend to hopefully get case if anyone has them, otherwise will buy online.

Can't wait to get it up and running :)

Someone with the same board etc here, should make my life easy as it has all the required Multibeast settings etc.

Radeon Hd 69xx or 7xxx don't work with hackintosh.
Max on AMD site is a 6870, on Nvidia site you can go with GTX 5xx (560,560ti,570,580) or GTX 6xx (670,680).

Don't the new iMacs come with a 6970? Or should I be returning this card?

They are kind of HD68xx series cards.

Bummer, might see if I can return it.
What is a card for similar money with similar performance that runs well? NVidia GTX570?

If you can wait for 2 more weeks, I think GTX 660 Ti is coming.

Otherwise, both GTX 560 Ti and GTX 570 are decent cards.

Coolermaster Case and CPU cooler have been acquired, just need the motherboard to arrive from NewEgg via PriceUSA, and then awaiting the GTX 660Ti to be released in Aus. Not long now! :D

Just ordered an EVGA 660TI SC edition from Amazon, once it and the motherboard arrive the build begins! :D
