Was wondering if anyone can tell me if this board functions, and how much so? I'm not familiar with how compatibility works for OSX, so I'm a little lost.

:!: If something doesn't work, it's not particularly important to me if it is expected to be fixed later on, since I'm only interested in putting OSX as a secondary boot for personal scholarly purposes. Of course, if there's no fix in sight then that's a different story.

I'm interested in this one right now. The build I currently have is set and I am incrementally buying parts as the weeks go by. The motherboard I will be buying last, so I am open to any suggestions towards other recommended boards (under $95 w/ shipping).

Oh, and the CPU I will be using is the Intel Core i5 3450.

Thanks,
Vision

Oh btw, I found out that the Onboard LAN and the Audio chipsets match with the official Wiki entries, so I'm fine there. It's just other discrepancies that I'd like to know about.

Technically yes, it'll work as all the hardware is supported. As to how well it'll work, I don't
know and you'd have to make your own DSDT file.
The CPU is fine, BUT you'll most likely need a graphics card, as the HD 2500 graphics isn't guaranteed to work in OS X.

My graphics card will be the GTX 480 which is coincidentally compatible, so the integrated graphics won't be a problem hopefully. As for the DSDT file, could you explain the gist of what it is and how to do that?

I got the ASRock B75 Pro3-M working with a Geforce 9500GT graphics card and a Core i5-3450.

I did not create a DSDT (doesn't seem to be necessary)

The following functionality could be verified:

- Graphics with QuartzExtreme
- Network
- USB 2.0 and 3.0
- Sound

My installation steps:

- create an USB stick with UniBeast and Mountain Lion
- boot from USB stick with boot options "PCIRootUID=0 -v -x"
- OS X installation menu comes up - open "Disk utility" from the pull down menu
- Partition hard disk with GUID partition table
- quit disk utility and install OS X
- boot once again from USB stick, choose hard disk as boot partition (boot option PCIRootUID=0)
- complete OS X installation
- download MultiBeast and install only Chimera Boot Loader and Sound driver (Realtek ALC 892)
- open Utilities / Terminal and copy the /extra directory from USB stick to hard disk:
sudo cp -r /volumes/usbstick/extra /
where "usbstick" must be replaced with actual volume name
- edit /extra/org.chameleon.boot.plist and set Kernel Flags to "PCIRootUID=0"
To get Appstore working also add <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> -
you can use the nano editor:
sudo nano /extra/org.chameleon.boot.plist
- reboot directly from hard disk
