What are some of the caveats of using/building Hackint0sh compared to real Mac devices?

What advice/pointers would you give to new builders?

Is going through the configurations/troubleshooting worth the savings?

  1. Follow the Installation Guide to the letter.
  2. Find User Builds and Golden Builds with similar hardware to yours (same motherboard and/or graphics card) to give you advice, tips, and pointers.
  3. Take your time and relax, try not to get frustrated if you run into problems. There are lots of smart, helpful folks on the forums who are willing to help you figure them out.
  4. There's no such thing as a stupid question, unless it's a frequent one that you would have easily been able to find answers for with a search - Use the search bar, folks!
  5. Have fun! Building your own computer (especially running Mac OS X) can be quite fun and rewarding.

Almost universally.
