Hi guys,

I am plannig building my first hackintosh. I want to create a dual boot system with windows exclusively for gaming. This is the build I'm planning:

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97X SLI (115 euro)

CPU: i5 4690K (maybe overclocking in the future, so not an extra CPU cooler yet) 236 euro

RAM: 16 GB Corsair vengeance (89 euro) (really need 16 gb for VM)

GPU: EVGA GTX 970 (355 euro)

PSU: Corsair CS550M (90 euro)

Case: Corsair Carbide 300r (80 euro)

Yes I know, hardware is very expensive here in the Netherlands:banghead:

The only thing I get stuck is storage. I have never done a dual boot system before, so this might be a stupid question. I'm already a little over my budget and it would be nice if I can save 50 dollars. If I install OS X and Windows on a SSD, will I be able to use an additional 1 tb HDD for both systems? Can I just creatwe two partitions and use one for windows and one for OS X? Otherwise I have to buy two 500gb HDD which is almost twice the price. If you have othercomments on my build, please let me know!

Yes you can use a single HDD for storage for both OS's. If ou format it MSDOS FAT (FAT32) then you can share the entire drive between OS X and Windows if your file size is smaller than 4 GB.
Best to spend the extra $$ on a second SSD and install each OS on its own drive.
