Hello there!

I'm considering building a hackintosh and came up with the following parts:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5
CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K (LGA 1150, 3.50GHz, Unlocked)
CPU-Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H90
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport (2x, 8GB, DDR3-1600, DIMM 240)
SSD: Samsung 850 Pro (128GB, 2.5") (
HDD: Seagate Barracuda (1000GB, 3.5", Desktop)
Power Supply: Corsair RM Series RM650 (650W)
Case: Corsair Obsidian 450D (Midi Tower)
Wi-Fi: TP-LINK TL-WDN4800, Wireless N Dualband (PCI-E x1, 450Mbit/s)
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04
Monitor: ASUS VG248QE 24''

I would like to run a windows as well as a mac partition on the SSD.
The windows for gaming and the mac for university work (and maybe some video editing here and there).
If you have any suggestions or concerns please feel free to tell me so since I'm not experienced at all.

Have a great day and i hope to hear from you!

Thank for your feedback. i'm not 100% sure if i even want the wifi since i'm going over an ethernet cable anyway. I just saw it on a few guides and thought maybe it would be worth a shot.

I'm not sure if i should get two ssd's or one (would like to dual boot and don't know if it is smarter to run each OS on a separate SSD or not).

Is the optical drive really worth it? I feel like i could just use an external one if i ever need it.

Get 2 SSDs and install OS X on separate drive from Windows for best results. Saves :banghead: when time comes to update either OS.

No reason to buy Wireless card if connecting by Cat5e cable. Just something else to worry about drivers for.

Thank you very much! Looks like I'm pretty much set then. *crossing fingers*

[h=1]I think that the TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 is supported natively in os x, so if you want wifi that is a perfect card.:)[/h]

You will want the optical drive for installing drivers for your motherboard and all that good stuff. Besides they cost only like $20 if you just want a DVD/CD one.

Thanks for the feedback. Seems like a no brainer :) don't know why i thought otherwise

Not required - you only need the Windows drivers and they can be downloaded from the OEM website. In fact, the website drivers are usually later updates for the ones on the DVD that comes with the board.

Yeah unless you are like me and cant get on the internet until drivers were installed, with no other computer at the time.
