Planning to build my second custom mac and while I know Gigabyte boards are generally easier to work with, I'm wondering if anything has changed with the 9 series boards/Yosemite? Would the Z97m-Plus would be a good option? (it's listed in the mobo support list but I don't want to have to edit dsdt's and patch bioses and whatnot).

Thanks!

None of that is necessary with the new Asus Z97 boards. They are a total breeze to work with...Just tested out an MSI as well and same deal.

I always go Asus and I've tested the Asus Z97m-Plus, it works fine. With that said the MSIZ97M I'm testing now is very sweet... There's a lot of good choices right now.

Have you done any overclocking yet with the MSI board? Whenever I try the Genie button in the BIOS it will boot into win7 but not Yosemite. I can't figure out what setting is causing the problem. I'm going to fool around with a manual OC but I thought I'd ask.

So Asus are just as good as the Gigabyte for the series 9?

Yep I have a 4770k running 4.5 at the moment. Forget that OC Genie button and learn the bios.

So the Asus board will work with Chameleon? That's what I always use and prefer
