I am preparing to start my first hackintosh. I have a studio mac pro that I would like to simply clone so I don't have to bother installing all the software again. Can I simply clone the boot drive from that computer and install the boot loader? Or do I need to install from scratch? Thanks!

Yes, you can clone the Mac drive, install a boot loader and use it in a PC-Mac.
You will probably also need to install kexts for audio and networking.
