Hi everyone, i'm going to return to the Macintosh in non-official way (some years before i had an iMac and a MBP) so it's time to build my first Hackintosh system and i think that it'll be easy using tonymacx86's resources (or maybe i'm very easier LOL).

I have read the buyer's guide and this is my idea of configuration:
CPU Intel i7-4790
COOLER Corsair Hydro Series H60
MOBO Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H
SSD Samsung 840 Evo 500 GB
RAM 2xCrucial Ballistix Sport 1600MHz 8 GB
PSU Corsair RM650
CASE Corsair Carbide 330R (i love that, is smaller and very quiet!!!)

As you can see, in the first time i'm going to use the integrated graphic of CPU, but in future (need money LOL) i'm going to install a GTX 770 GPU: that's the reason of the 650W PSU.

What do you think about? Is the configuration compatible by all parts? And also, refer to the buyer's guide that setup will be very easier to work with Hackintosh right?

Thank you for your help and sorry for my bad english! :p See Ya!

Looks good, only suggestion would be if you are getting both a water cooler and the Z87 then you might as well buy the 4790K so you have the freedom to overclock at a later time.

Yes, but i read also that the 4790k cpu can have problems with Hackintosh... Otherwise if there's no problem with the K CPU, doing oc is more appropiate a mobo like the GA-Z87X-OC FORCE? Thanks!

The only issue with the 4790k is that you need to update the board to the latest BIOS, so will need access to a Haswell CPU (eg. 4770) to update it first.

Any Z87 board should overclock no problem. IMO that kind of labelling is usually marketing rubbish...check the differences in features and decide whether you need them and should pay the extra premium for them.

This is a very big problem, because i can't have a access to a previous Haswell CPU...
Only the 4790K is not support by the default bios? Because i think that the not K CPU (4790) is't support too and maybe now i understand the reason because some users do a configuration with the Z87X chipset and the 4770K... :|

Is't possible to update the bios without using a CPU?

Only with an Asus motherboard, not Gigabyte. The good news is you can use any Haswell CPU
even the lowest cost Celeron would work. Go to the Gigabyte site and look at the cpu support
list for your motherboard. If you can't afford one then go to a pc repair shop and have them
flash it for you.

Is't Gigabyte QFlash for that?
Anyway the lower price Celeron cost about 28 € when with about 8 € the vendor will do a bios flash on the mobo, so now i'm oriented to this second.
The minimun update is to F8 version (to have access to the Haswell refresh CPU) but there're also the F9 and F10b version (the last is a beta but some users already use it)... What version do you advice?

Or, another possibility is to buy a Z97 board like the GA-Z97X-UD3H that are also lower expensive than the Z87 version but i read that the 9 version of mobo are support limited...

I would try the F9 version first, you could always try the beta later on if necessary.
Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Ok, on the next week i'll proceed!

One last question: bios change is only possible to a new version or is possible to downgrade also it?
For example, if one i day i decide to test the F10b bios and with it i have problems can i came back to the F9 version? Thanks!

It's not the recommended way to do it but it is possible. Read and follow the directions specific to
the motherboard you have or will purchase. Usually found on the manufacturer's website. Google
is your friend. :)
