I've read various threads about certain Gigabyte motherboards only support 2560x1440 over DisplayPort. The user manuals of those boards, however, expressly states that HDMI and DVI support a max of 1920x1200.

By contrast, the Z87N-WIFI does not have a DisplayPort, but it does expressly support resolutions up to and beyond 2560x1440 because it has HDMI 1.4.

However, I have not seen a single post of anybody who can confirm that 2560x1440 works in Mavericks over HDMI.

Surely somebody is running such a configuration. Please post if you can confirm one way or the other!! Thanks!

According to GA website the board has the following:

  1. 1 x DVI-I port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200
  2. 2 x HDMI ports, supporting a maximum resolution of 4096 x 2160 @ 24 Hz / 2560 x 1600 @ 60 Hz
    * Support for HDMI 1.4a version.

2560x1440 will work over HDMI if your display can handle the resolution at 60Hz or if you can set the refresh rate at a lower freq it might work. It really depends on what your display is capable of.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I've seen the specs from the Gigabyte website, but I'm hoping to get actual confirmation from somebody who has successfully achieved native 2560x1440 over HDMI on a Hackintosh. I don't think OSX even supported 2560x1440 over HDMI until Mavericks.

So yeah, the mobo is definitely capable of it... but I'm seeking confirmation that it truly works in practice! Thanks.

sorry for my English. I work with a resolution of 2560 x 1440, but sometimes the screen flickers and artefacts appear. perhaps the problem with the motherboard.

But you are using a Z87N-wifi? Connected via HDMI? Does it do 2560x1440 at 60 hz?

Thanks for the response!

Working just fine with a Dell U2711 at 2560x1440.

Do you solve 'screen flickers' issue? I has same problem with DVI-DVI and 1920x1080x32 resolution.

I have a Asus 27" PB278Q http://amzn.com/B009C3M7H0 and a Z87N-WIFI. After reading about the max resolution of the DVI, and striking out with my old HDMI cables, I bought one that supports up to 4K output and 1.4a from here: http://amzn.com/B003VL5P2S

I've tried both the top and bottom HDMI ports on the motherboard and I can't seem to get output higher than 1080p. I am using onboard video. I am running 10.9.3. I too would like to hear about success stories.

MacMarshall, Yaros2201 are you using a graphics card?

I have a GA-H87N-WIFI with GTX 760 and I get 2560x1440 over HDMI to a Crossover 27QW, but I think that's a recent thing because the seller I've got the monitor from stated that on OSX would only go as high as 1080p.
