ASUS P8Z77-V PRO - patched BIOS a must in 2015?

First time to do this and given that things do change I wanted to ask if a patched BIOS is still required for the above MB?

Thank you! I registered and have installed MaciASL, but I think these are DSTD patches, not the Bios, which I still need anyway? Sorry for being a newb.

To bring this full circle:

You don't need to ask people for BIOS files, you need to do it yourself, and it's easy, once you know what you need to do. Finding that out is the challenge...

This is where the tools are as of today (this could change any moment): https://github.com/LongSoft/UEFITool/releases/tag/0.20.4

1. Get your BIOS from the makers website
2. Patch it with.... the patch program
3. Flash it to your machine (ASUS and others might need some workarounds with file names and security to make this happen, it's motherboard specific, and you are responsible for any damage caused).
4. Be happy

ASUS P8Z77-V PRO
Intel 82579V Network Adapter


I wanted to change MAC address and accidently flashed eeprom with wrong files from here:

Flashed lan.eep imagefile for Intel 82574L with eepupdate command.
I have Intel 82579V

82579V(my) -> 82574L(wrong)

So now my controller is shown as 82574L and doesnt work.
Please suggest how can I fix, restore back my 82579V eeprom?! Do I need dump? How can I restore eeprome?
Someone can please provide Intel 82579V dump .eep image file?
