Hi,

Just built my first PC and what a place to start to attempt a Hackintosh-

I've run into problems on the installation side but that isn't why I post here now. Upon experimenting with disconnecting devices like HDD's and swapping them around on the 6 SATA connections I've noticed to my horror that the PC wouldn't start at all but when I connect more devices it powers up now problem.

Is there a master SATA connection for power purposes? - I'm looking for the reason why this has happened -

In the BIOS there are boot order options - if you've swapped the devices it may be confused as to which device it's meant to boot from. Each SATA port is numbered and distinct.

If you hit "Choose Boot Disk" or something similar (F12 on Gigabyte boards pre-OS Boot) then you may see your PC HD there and pick it.

Also have you been installing other bootloaders like Chimaera/Chameleon etc? That could cause the initial boot to require one HDD which then loads the OS from another.
